Stogieman
It's not Turkish.......... You have:Prussian Long Service MedalSax-Ernestine (possibly Sax-Coburg-Gotha) Merit MedalSaxon (one of the Duchies) Long Service Medal
Dave Danner
It's not Turkish.......... You have:Prussian Long Service MedalSax-Ernestine (possibly Sax-Coburg-Gotha) Merit MedalSaxon (one of the Duchies) Long Service MedalI would disagree. It is not the collective DA for the Saxon Duchies; the obverse of that had text ("Treue Dienste bei der Fahne") and a crowned coat of arms device. That does indeed appear to be a Turkish Lifesaving Medal. Here is an image from Tim Tezer's site: http://www.turkishmedals.net/images/medal_tahlisiye.jpgOn the 2nd medal, you're right that it's Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. But by the image I don't think you can tell whether it is a Merit Medal of the Ducal Saxe-Ernestine House Order or a Duke Carl Eduard Medal (which could be given for lifesaving). The obverse was pretty much the same. Edited May 24, 2006 by Dave Danner
Guest Rick Research
No name?Since NEITHER the Saxe-Ernestine Medals NOR the Turkish Lifesaving Medal were LISTED-- either of which would probably have identified this young Deckoffizier--that is a double for making an identification on a unique trio of awards that simply show as the long service medal in the 1914 Rangliste!!!!!!!! Christian L
sadly un-id-able, but i think its a nice picture anyway.(but if i would be him, i would definatly change the position of the awards - no mather what regulations or something else will tell )christian
