Jason Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Evening GentsI've had this bar for around 20 years, but thanks to Stogieman, I picked up a matching ribbon bar for it. Makes a handsome couple I think..... cheersJason

Guest Rick Research Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Yes it does! And a perfect example of Imperial "double time" with XXV and no 1897. What color backing on the medal bar?
Jason Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Morning everyonea quick pic of the back before I head off to the coal face for the dayRed backing!cheersJason
Chip Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Rick,OK, what is "imperial double time"? I assume it means he got extra credit for some service in order to get a 25 year medal, without being in the army in 1897. Was he a reservist with an official's job the rest of the year? Still learning.Chip
Ulsterman Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I remember reading an article somewhere-I think it was the BDOS journal in the 1980s, that stated that war time service counted double-time for a year for imperial service, state and Wehrmacht medals.Am I wrong?
