Rosenberg Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Hi,can anyone tell me what pin I have here....Thanks in advance
Guest Rick Research Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Some sort of cavalry association from the saddlebags. Timm made Freikorps insignia so this probably dates circa 1919-early 1920s. Never seen anything marked by that company beyond those few years.
Rosenberg Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Thanks alot ,Rick! Is there a way to determine the Freikorps?Regards
--dj--Joe Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Link to a thread showing obverse and reverse of another HCH TIMM item. Post #111 and #112.http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=6291&st=100--dj--Joe
--dj--Joe Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Silver version. Obverse.[attachmentid=44254]--dj--Joe
Rosenberg Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Thanks alot for showing Joe! Do you have any additional info on it? Are silver and gold representing grades?Regards
--dj--Joe Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Happy to show it, I do not have any specific information on it as of yet.Hope to learn more. So far gold and silver examples are all I have seen.--dj--Joe
Guest Rick Research Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 GREAT to see how these were suspended originally-- quite a peculiar method of attaching to the ribbon!!!
Rosenberg Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Hi,I finally found the pin in Huesken It is 9652 "c" and Joe?s looks like "b",Deutsche Krieger Fechtanstalt.Cheers
--dj--Joe Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Thanks for the additional info.Institute for fencing?--dj--Joe
Rosenberg Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Institute for fencing?Yes,Sir! Yours is supposed to be for a "Fechtmeister/Oberfechtmeister" and mine for a "Bezirksfechtmeister".I can only guess that these were sort of grades.Regards
--dj--Joe Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Bezirkfechtmeister would be for a district fencing master.Ober = upperI wonder what the (bags)? the hands are shaking through would be? Gear bags? Perhaps they are not bags. Any one got a 40's fencing catalog?Regards, --dj--Joe
--dj--Joe Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Mr. Rosenberg, I shared the information with the GU.com section of the GD.com forum where I co-moderate. I appreciate very much the effort you put forth in finding this information and you recieved full credit as well deserved.I did not supply links as I am not sure how the forums are disposed to this practise.Regards,--dj--Joe
Ralph A Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I wonder what the "saddlebags" represent? A handguard for foil or epee?
Rosenberg Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 Joe,always welcome! Those saddlebags do remind me of a fencing "ring" with two fencers symbolised, don?t you raise both hands when fencing-one upfront with the blade and the second somewhat showing to behind to keep the balance?Regards
Kev in Deva Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 (edited) Joe,always welcome! Those saddlebags do remind me of a fencing "ring" with two fencers symbolised, don?t you raise both hands when fencing-one upfront with the blade and the second somewhat showing to behind to keep the balance?RegardsHallo Gentlemen with regards this thread, I have noticed several medal / insignia items with a pair of hands motif from various countries and I come to the conclusion that they are all linked to the FREEMASON / FREIMAURER Society is it not also possible that the item posted by "d.j" could be a similar item perhaps with a military connection, a Lodge say in a military establishment?
