Bob Hunter Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 [attachmentid=2892]What makes this bar interesting is the scarce Silver Merit Cross to the White Falcon Order.
Stogieman Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Outstanding Bar Bob! Sax-Weimar pieces from the White Falcon (in any grade) are very hard to find!
Guest Rick Research Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 What's the complete inscription on the Red Cross medal? That is yet another of the seemingly endless UNCATALOGED semi-official awards allowed for wear... but not in any of the Official Awards reference books!!!!
Bob Hunter Posted May 25, 2005 Author Posted May 25, 2005 Gothic is tough enough in print but when it is part of a die some letters can be impossible. At least I find it so. Well beyound my humble trifocals! I can't guess at a several letters so I will just post three different closeups for your perusal. The award was described to me as a Merit Decoration of the Thuringian State Association of the Red Cross 1st Level. It is maker marked on the reverse with the name R. Conrad, Weimar.
landsknechte Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I found this website quite by accident some time ago, and is the best resource that I've been able to find online that deals with German Red Cross decorations:http://www.richardajordan.com/Red_Cross/GermanStatesRK.html--Chris
Gerd Becker Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Bob,its "Th?ringer Landesm?nnerverein d. Rt. Kr.(des Roten Kreuzes, could be v. "vom Roten Kreuz" too)."Beautiful bar, btw. Gerd
