Imperial Russia Anyone Know What Unit This Fellow Was In?

I recently had a lady ask me to ID her grandfather. Can anyone help me out? The shoulder boards are marked with a "TDg" (in Cyrillic) Anyone know what unit that was?

Hi Chris..

This book has great descriptions in three languages, but some of the images/linedrawing are pretty poor quality..

I dont think this reference is still avaible new maybe on a secondary market.

Is this the one that Collect Russia sells? Not the really expensive one all in Russian, with the superb photos, part of a 3 volume set? I like Adolenko, but I wish it was in color rather than B&W.

Yes I think CollectRussia is where I got this..I think it was $225.00

But I just looked and its not listed anymore.

The other Vol 3 is of another set..i have these as well.

English/and russian.

To all:

As for the Terek-Dagestan connection, if you look closely at the shoulder board you will notice a lowercase cyrillic "g" after the uppercase cyrillic "D" as Dave noted in his original post. Although the "g" doesn't appear in the above graphic, this would appear to be the unit.
