JapanX Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Recently I bought very interesting (and quite rare) group of documents that includes both 1914 War Medals. Since some of our friends are really into WW I Victory Medals and others like decorations associated with Tsingtao Siege it will be aproppriate to post it The group includes 1914-5 Tsingtao War Dispatch Medal document (Dated November 7, 1915) 1914-20 Siberia War Dispatch Medal document. (Dated December 15, 1919). 1920 WW1 War Victory Medal document. (Dated December 15, 1919). All awarded to the Navy Sailor Warrant Officer Mizuno Kishichirou. Let`s take a close look at them

JapanX Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Of course Peterson was wrong when he stated that “No one could receive both medals” (i.e. 14-15 and 14-20 medals, see “Orders and Medals of Japan and Associated States”, 3rd edition, p. 48.) One man could receive both medals. He only couldn’t wear both Regulation for 1914-20 Siberia War Dispatch Medal clearly states that only one medal could be wear (naturally the later one). Regards, Nick
Claudius Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Outstanding!.....really outstanding. What a great group. Is there any chance in finding out what ship Warrant Officer Mizuno Kishichirou served on? That would be a real corker if you can find that out!

RobW Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Hello Nick, A nice set of documents you have. Was this his only entitlement or are there other documents in the group? Regards, Rob
JapanX Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Hello Nick, A nice set of documents you have. Was this his only entitlement or are there other documents in the group? Regards, Rob Hi Rob, these are the only documents that were offered for sale. No documents for orders. Quite strange... Two war campaigns and no orders ... Cheers, Nick
pieter1012 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Hi Nick, firstly a very nice group of documents. Mizuno was awarded also the fifth class of the order of the Rising Sun or Sacred Treasure (his document says above his name; kun 5-to which means 5th class order without specifying which one) and the 7th class of the Golden Kite (ko 7-kyu). Let me add that most likely he had the 5th class Rising sun, since together with the award of the Golden Kite, as far as I know, always the Rising Sun was simultaneously awarded. I would not be surprised if he had also one or two civil commemorative medals. regards, Pieter Edited August 31, 2012 by pieter1012
