    Hi Igor,

    Nice groups. :jumping:

What are the numbers of the medals for Charles Wain and Ch. Sto. G.D.High.

Could you also give some more info on the serial number series for medals to British soldiers?

I know for exemple that the French received in April 1915, 100 3rd class crosses, numbers 16701-16800, and 400 4th class crosses, numbers 126651-127050.

Does these list exist for British also?

    Thanks

    Great info Igor, thank you.

You mention there were 925 St George medals given, do you know how many crosses were awarded?

Are these awards referenced in the London Gazette? (I don't seem to find them)

    Jan

PS: Is there a list of the recipients of the 4th class of the St George order. I'm trying to find out more about Commander Paul Roze (Belgium) who was awarded with this order.

Unfortunately, I do not own his medals, I'm trying to retrace his history.

I know he was awarded with a knight Belgian Leopold I order, knight Belgian Crown order with Palm, Belgian War Cross with 2 palms, Belgian Allied Victory medal, Belgian Commemorative medal WWI and apparantly with the St George order (not cross) 4th class, as commander of the Belgian expeditionary Auto-Canon-Machinegun Corps in Russian.

    Thanks again

These foreign awards, especially in WWI and WWII are fascinating. I have a number of images (but, as yet, no specimens) of awards to Indian Army personnel.

Right. To keep automated information and image thieves out, you have to join the forum (free and easy) to see the threads. This is apain, but many of us have posted hard-won research and would rather not make its theft too easy.

I not see number of cross of Subadar Dalkesar Gurung

Do you know the numbers of awards another Indian Soldiers ?

The only ones on which the numbers are known are those in private collections, that is NONE. Even the Gorkha Museum does not have the number of his cross recorded. Someone would have to look at the medal, and it is mounted behind glass. This isn't something that most British collectors focus on, assuming the number to be untraceable.
