    1. Hello Don, Thanks for speaking up. I heard about the unequal gaps before but to me, almost every spange I've seen has that, even the combo from Gordon. I didn't know about the non-curved wing. I think I might be better off sticking to Hindenburg crosses, post cards, books and Brodies. Cheers Tony
    2. Very nice Mike and well worth the wait! You posted this last night, you must be home from work by now so where are the pictures. Are the cockades original too? Please post some pictures of the parts inside we don't normally get to see. wub.gif Tony
    3. Hello Marcus, Substanstive is when you've been granted the rank, acting is a sort of trial period which can just be taken away from you. Do you have the original boxes for the medals? Tony
    4. Hello, I've already bought this spange but before I sell my old 3 pinned version I'd like your opinions please. Also if anyone can tell me the maker it'd be a bonus so long as it's not Mr Floch. Thanks Tony
    5. Looks like a Sch?tzenfest to me Gordon but Rick will probably know for sure. Tony
    6. Hello Andy, Thanks a lot, I've had the same confirmation elsewhere too. Tony
    7. Hello, Can anyone tell me which unit this cap badge belongs to? It looks like the Grenadier Guards but there appears to be a scroll there too. This photo was taken in Menin and I'd guess in 1916 as there's only 1 tin hat, the rest are wearing gor blimeys. The full photo is in the British PoW thread. Tony
    8. I think this one is great, taken just behind the line in Belgium (Menin is written on the back). Tony
    9. Here are another 2 of my PoW cards. The first one shows Lancers and Jocks. Tony
    10. I think this lot are French. Apart from the ones with rifles of course. Tony
    11. No matter how often I look at these "Flochs" I still can't spot them. I think I'll have to buy one, it might be a different matter when I've got one in my hand. I can't even see a difference in the above cores. Tony
    12. No I didn't know anything about that. It would account the for the unusual number of medals I've seen for sale on the internet. I've always wanted at least a bilingual Victory medal so I'll have to keep away from rare units. I wonder if Chris will give me his ones as a pressie? jumping Tony
    13. It just goes to show how important it is to write some details on the back of photos for future generations. Will I ever know the make of the aeroplane for sure? Tony
    14. Don & Rick, Thanks for the info. There isn't any trace of the finish, not even in the suspension ring. Would it be difficult for a Bavarian to be awarded the cross? Schaumburg Lippe isn't a very big area. Tony
    15. Hello, Is this the Schaumburg Lippe cross? If it is, what was it awarded for, only loyal service as implied? Is there a pin back version? Thanks Tony
    16. This is a 1914/15 trio awarded to M2-103991 Pte. T. Winterton of the ASC, the BWM and Victory are named to M2-103991 Sjt. Winterton. M2 means he was an electrician. Tony
    17. Here is a 1914 Star trio with bar awarded to 7468 Pte. H. Murrell, 2 RSR (on star) and L-7468 on the BWM and Victory medals. The L prefix crops up on home county regiment medals amongst others. The mini ribbon bar with rosette is made of a single piece of material which may not be unusual but is harder to find. Both T. E. Peacock and H. Murrell survived the war. Tony
    18. Hello, Here are 2 of my trios, the first set is the 1914 star trio which was awarded to SS-1220 Pte T. E. Peacock ASC (on Star) and SS-1220 Sjt. T. E. Peacock on the BWM and Victory medals. The SS- prefix denotes he was an ASC old army Supply Special. Tony
    19. Hello Darrell, Here's my one. Does yours have the name A. Morlon too, was he the person who designed the French Victory medal? Tony
    20. Have you just borrowed that from your neighbour? Tony
    21. Any chance of a close up on the crown and scroll Mike? Have you finally bought yourself a scanner? Tony
    22. Hello Darrell, That's a nice set you've got there, all you need now is the Belgian version. I don't own anything with a palm so I'm slightly jealous. I do have a bar, star trio which I might scan and put in the appropriate forum tomorrow. Tony
    23. Hello Don, Here are mine: Treuen Kriegern, K?nig Gr?z and Main Armee. The only difference I can see off hand apart from the quality (I should mention at this point that I can't spot the famous Flochs) is that my ones have a grooved suspension ring soldered to the awards . If you want some close up of anything in particular just say so. Tony
