    1. I GOT HIM !!!! Feldwebel Emil Frenzel was one of the last 155 Germas to surrender in 1918 with Lettow-Vorbeck !! I found this pic and my man is number 8 from left in front row, he made it to Feldwebel after all.. Sometimes the unbelivable is happening! Of all the hundreds of photos I got , this was a real Thriller !! Now I must get some more info about theese German POWs ! Christer
    2. Hi Chip, Rick ! The Photo is dated 23 Th March 1914 and the buttons is just as in Ricks pic! So this is a Feldwebel or Vzfw on his way to East Africa?     3. Ouch ! Thanks Naxos, Then I am wrong with Lt dr Frenzel , If he have been Lt in 1913 he wouldnt send a photo with Fw in 1914 I suppose But is it a Gardes uniform he wearing? Now I have to find a Emil Frenzel rank Vzfw or Fw in 1914 puhhh, life is hard to us collectors Chris
    4. The postman delivered a small collection of German Photos from WW1 today, I just love theese! But only one got a name on it, Emil Frenzel !! After searching Rankliste of 1913 I found only one Frenzel and that was Lt dr Frenzel Gardes Rgt 1 zu Fuss And I know this is a longshot but 1: Is he wearing a Gardesuniform? 2: Does anyone know anything about this Lt Emil Frenzel ? He must have been drafted in 1914, the text on back says March 23th 1914 and the Photo is taken in D?sseldorf which matches the city of Altenburg noted in the Rankliste . I suppose there little chance to find something with this little information but I thought it was such a nice pic and would love to know something about this Lt ! All the best from Sweden Christer
    5. Now I can see some more info about this WWI driver, one thing that puzzles me is the 4th entry? Hes got BWM VictM Star and ? Maybe I have to take a vacation and go to England? Kew is probably a nice place in December? Christer

    8. Hi Ed, talk about lightning fast answer It says 01743 Pte J.F Wood A.S.C on the Victory and War medal On the star its hard to read by the sellers pics but it looks like T2-SR-01743 GVR J. F Wood A. S. C I am unsure if its a G or Q, D ?? I enclose a pic , maybe you can spot the right letters ! Christer

I am planning to buy a group with 1914-15 Star, Victory and War medal they are all named to an 01743 J.F Wood I am totally lost when its comes to researching British medals and I have been racing around internet to find something about this soldier but probably I have been looking on the wrong places..... Could anyone help me? I found my way to the National Archive but ther was only one 6619 J.F Wood ?? What do the numbers in front of the name means? I thought it would be a personal number? When I look close it looks less and less as a crown and more like something else? webr : what is SiamKr5, sp MVO and T?rM5 I suppose a unit like the Guards Rgt get awards from a lot of countries during State visits and so on? Is there any good books about theese guards rgts? Glenn? I suppose you must have something. This forum is just great ! (or the members in it) Thanks again for all help Christer

    13. Why didn?t they have color photos in 1918? It would helped a lot!!! This new pic shows a man awarded with 9 awards and I can?t read more than 2? Am I old and half-blind (yes but besides that) Urrghh , can anyone with eagleyes help me? It looks to me as EKII with small EK?, Red eagle?, and ?, ?, and ? ??? and the second last looks to me as an Hohenzollern? at the end ..... pleaaaase help me before I go insane and start..... to collect Romanian whiskey bottles or something.     16. Here is the latest thing in my collection arrived in the mail today from Police HQ Eastern Berlin.... sorry just kiddidn New times no more DDR. This is the Bulgarian medal for MVR ( the Bulgarian Ministery for inner affairs) or what is it called? in 1974 it was the minsterium for police and of course KDS , the secret police like the DDR STASI. This award is unusual because it is awarded to GenMaj Ewald Eichhorn vice minister for the MdI in DDR maybe a "present" from the Socialist Bulgaria on he?s new rank of GenMaj? Christer
    17. Here is another one new in my collection Medal for Inner Ministerium 30 years awarded to an DDR VOPO GenMaj ! He was just promoted to GenMaj when he got this award. see more in the DDR Threads Christer
    18. I think I got Him myself! I missed one of the MMJO winners from b Inf Rgt 13 when I looked in the book (the only one wich survived the war) ObLt Karl ritter von Weber , what I can see he has only one pipe on his shoulder and that would make him an Lt or ObLt am I right? So If I now got the right man, doers anyone have any info about ObLt Karl ritter von Weber ? Thanks in advance Christer
    19. Here is a Photo of a Bavarian MMJO , but who is he ? I have the Bavarian Ehrenbook and looking at the picture I can read a 13 on the shoulder. Then I have two officers : Major Anton Ritter von D?mlein KIA 11.4.1918 Capt Hugo Ritter von Kraemer KIA 6.9.17 Could anyone id the rank of this guy? Imperial uniforms is not my best area.... (but when I get rich and quit working I will spend the rest of my days learning more ) Kind Regards from Sweden Christer

He is in a Norddeutscher LLoyd uniform ! but wearing all his WW1 medals, I think that Kriegsmarine took control of the NDDL during wartime , anybody knows more? I have just bought this photo and wonder if there is any possibility the put a name on this officer He dosn?t have a lot of medals but I wonder if the finnish connection could give a clue? Iron cross II class, Hamburg Cross , Honorcross, Finnish Order of Liberty cross 4th or 3rd class 1918, and Finnish civil war medal. He has 4 broad stripes on his arm a that makes him ? what ..... Anyone good at imperial navy uniforms? Every help would be appreciated! Sorry!! saw that I write "Kriegsmarine" in the heading should of course have been Reichsmarine....
