    1. aaaahhhh... it is way easier than it seems.... we got rid of two old wardrobes... each had a thin sheet of wood as a back wall... I varnished one, painted the other, got the fancy strip of wood in the middle from a home depot... and there is the background....
    2. Duh ! That was AAAAALLLL for me! ? The 2 glasses came out of a garbage tip in old German positions in the Argonne... 100 years under the ground!
    3. Hi, does anyone have and Richthofen cuff titles for use in an article? Officers and Other ranks varians, maybe a Bundesluftwaffe? Thanks Chris
    4. Hi, the uniforms and blue cap are are from his auction, the rest just added to complete the photo.
    5. Initially I thought a Rückkehrer photo, but it is June 1918.... The text is ALMOST readable....
    6. OK, to the above.... I found one in better condition for display... the original one still there of course.....
    7. Here is my corner of the den to display Blue tunics.... A Bavarian Jäger Private from Aschaffenburg, one pic has a large photo of a prewar Regt commander... the other a 1916 painting by an artist named Adalbert Hock... who had been a Jäger in Aschaffenburg decades before... you can see him in the black and white photo....
    8. Here is the main load of my Alpenkorps collection... Still some way to go... was very pleased to add the 14th Jäger straps....
    9. The funny thing is, I still drink Selters today! ... there are nudreds of different bottled water companies in germany... Selters was a pionier and back then even though there were other companies, "Selters" became a generic term for sparkling water.... Here are a couple of examples of the official bottles... the oldest and newest.....
    10. Unfortunately not Bavarian... but probably one in 30 of these has a unit stamp... in this case a 1914 dated one to the RIR212... a Unit that made its bones in Belgium, in the Yser in 1914......
    11. Joining the thin blue line is this IKEA cabinet.... just EUR 57! So i can group all my Leib Regiment headgear.....
    12. Just behind the German lines at Verdun there was a soda water bottling plant.... a Number of years ago in a deep bunker at Verdun I found 3 bottles... still almost full, sealed with metal caps..... I put silicon over the caps to protect them... If I knew i was going to be hit by a buss in the morning, I would drink them, just for fun.....
    13. Here are a set of Bavarian stamped M1908 Binos.... the dark case is stamped to my beloved 2 Bavarian Jäger Battalion....
    14. Thanks to a tip on SDA I have found him.... Strangely in his records no EK2 is mentioned... it may be a postwar award..... Fritz Traugott Schulz... museum direktor and head curator of the Germanischen Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg. Interestingly enough he was arrested by the NAZIs on the 22 March 1933.. on the 2oth Himmler had announced the ipening of Dachau, on the 22nd the first 150 political prisonners arrived... seems to be a big coincidence... After his release he had been removed from his position at the Museum and forced to retire...
    15. Indeed... it is smaller than the Leiberring, and not possible to identify unfortunately... he has no edelweiss, so not really one of the "old Guard"... maybe he did not have the 24 months at the front, ot this pic was taken before the last round of awards where he may have gotten one...
    16. Wow.... it was a loooong search..... I finally found a pic of a leiberring being worn... this photo must have been just after the end of the war with the reservisten sticks...... the >NCO on the right was in the regiment at least from 1915.... and on his right hand.....
    17. Mauser did not write "super accurate" on their production G98 ? n.A. ist used in German military items when there is an officially recognised change as far as I know... some bayonets are designated n.A. for example
    18. On one side of the basement I have my "trench" ... now, on the other side I made a "wall" to photograph my Dress uniforms....
