    1. This guy seemed to have very short arms indeed!! But then I found another Bavarian Fieldgrey Rock that is just the same..... http://www.hermann-historica.de/auktion/hhm63.pl?f=NR_LOT&c=2504&t=temartic_A_GB&db=kat63_a.txt I guess it must be Bavarian Fashion....
    2. I must admit, I had a bit of a scare.... I compared it to my other jackets and thought this had extremely short arms... Most seem to have sleeve and end pretty much on the same level... like here.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/286801/286864.html
    3. Unfortunately after buying the doc, i saw the dealer has a large group of "other" stuff for sale. Not EK related and 5 times more than I paid for the EK1 doc... I am considering asking the dealer if he wants it back to ad to the group... but he was the one who plit it in the first place. So.. if anyone ever buys the group to Militär Intandantürrat Pinther (google pick that up!)... and needs the EK doc to complete it... mail me!!
    4. Sometimes little Gems lay on major dealers sights and are simply not seen.... Leutnant Rudolf Rober Scmidt of the reserve Pionier Kompagnie 44 recieved the EK1 on the 8th Of march 1918. With it is an Abschrift of the daily orders of the Gruppe Loos, on it the Stosstrupp Unternehmung (7th of March) of the RIR208, along with members of the Res Pionier Komp 44 are mentioned. A nice little find indeed :-)
    5. Some time ago someone asked to see this, i cannot find the original thead, so will post it here....
    6. Sorry, I meant I read they adopted them on the Feldgraue Waffenrock during the war (1915 or so?)
    7. Hi, an anyone explain why this tunic has red piping on the collar and on the cuffs? Any why Swedish cuffs? I read that the Bavarians adopted Red piped Swedish cuffs on the 1915 friedens Uniforn.... would this be connected to that?
    8. Here is one for the Movie Buffs..... think Vietnam and Robert Duval! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SU3FdsJrXo
    9. Born in Halle, Germany, she studied at the Conservatory in Leipzig; during her studies her voice changed from contralto to soprano. She made her debut (1903) at the Hannover Opera as Leonore in Fidelio and remained there until 1924. Her voice soon became a dramatic soprano and she earned great renown as a Wagner singer. She was a member of the Vienna State Opera (1924-29) and was greatly admired there. She was engaged at the Munich State Opera (1929-32), Guest appearances brought her additional fame, particularly in Wagner parts; she appeared at Covent Garden, in Berlin, Hamburg, and Amsterdam. She was a member of the Metropolitan Opera (1927-36). She had a sumptuously textured voice, and her dramatic ability was very impressive, particularly in such roles as Brunnhilde and Isolde.
    10. Maybe Company level runners had pistols? I am guessing who got the units pistols was something officially established, and runners probably changed so often.... no point wasting a good pistol on a guy who may leave the bunker and never be seen again.....
    11. I overpaid because the IR24 connection, but an interesting pic showing the runners posing at the entrance to the regiments gefechtstand
    12. Just researching this doc a bit more.... what Wahl does mention is how all the officers in the unit seem to have no interest in being involved in combat, the front or the war. He complains that you never see any of them in the trenches and dug outs...
    13. Many reasons why people give other people things. Within 2 years of leaving the army i had sent about half of my stuff to some guy down in Florida because he was interested in them, and I was not. I cannot explain why I did it, so i doubt someone will be able to 50 years from now. Most of the stuff in our collection has changed hands at some time in the past and many of us say "I cannot believe XXX would have giveb his YYY to a collector!" The English seems to have added at a later date. It has battle damage info that the original Japanese report did not have, and translates what an non Japanese speaker would need to know. Maybe Fuchida's original in Japanese, and some 1947 additions from when the two men met, the American filling in what Fuchida could not have known....
    14. Indeed you are right... Damerow was the commander in Question... he was there on the 10th and last cruise....
    15. Indeed! almost a crime to sell groups at that price!
    16. I am sure he will, But I dont claim the piece to be a rarity, just one you know nothing about.
