    1. The late W. Waldvogel had a great Iron Cross collection, including Mason badges with the EK as a motif... does anyone hve any to post?
    2. But what else makes this so off the wall.... in fact, it is all so off the wall that my initial thought was "Its so off the wall, it COULD just be GOOD!"
    3. Stamp is "? Komp. Kilimatinde" (to make it more interesting).
    4. A fake EK doc from WW1 is usually a rather rare bird... but this is one of the most enticing ones... I have seen 3 offered, they are just plain wrong, but if real would be so super sexy that even as fake it leaves you wishing "If only !!!"
    5. But to confuse things.... this dedication, from the deepest desert of German South West africa....
    6. Actually has a stamp of an English saddle maker in the Orange Free State...
    7. Man, if this piece could talk !!! The boers were very mobile folks indeed.... What looks here to be a regular 1890s British holster....
    8. Fort Napier in South Africa housed many German captives in WW1, most from German South West Africa, although I have not been able to find the article there is one about the artisanal work made in the camp by the POWs. Here are a couple of items. The first I am not sure if it is in fact from napier, an uncle gave it to me, all he knows is it is made by a POW, from the way it is made it looks similar to the belt buckle, which is 100% from Fort napier.
    9. I have a named item to a man who I think was a reserve officer captured in South West Africa in 1915... Is there a roll with the men out there somewhere? I also have a list of all officers and men captured at Gibeon in 1915 if it is of interest to anyone. Best Chris
    10. Thats 2.25 medals a year without ANY operational service?
    11. Here is a trial I have been following with interest. The Amnesty International report makes interesting reading, the best on the subject so far. http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAF...open&of=ENG-2AF
    12. You mean... My guy was your guys boss The signature was in coloured pencil. Small world !!
    13. I have just been offered one with chest pockets (a bit like the WW2 jackets). This seems to be unusual... most photos have them without pockets... Is this a certain pattern of jacket or just a private one ordered by the officer? best Chris
    14. Hi Dan, From 1st to 133 regimental numbers you have a salad with just about every number having a regular, reserve, landwehr numbers. From 134 to 193 all are regular inf regts (with one Landw. rget included in there), 194-200 were not used but the Regimental numbers 201-273 exist only as reserve regts, numbers from 274 to 327 were not used then from 328 to regt 479 everything is regular Inf rgets with only 2 more reserves (440 and 441) and 12 landwehr mixed in with them. best Chris
    15. I have promised for ages to post these but I am so behind in everything.... so here goes (at last).
    16. This is actually a one year card for the trans mongolian tramway. The man has paid for a year and is allowed to sit in the first class section of the tram. With my limited Mongolian, thats what I read out of it Reminds me of the time when I was in budapest and some guy showed me what must have been a subway card or bowling club photo ID and tried to confiscate some dinero i had just exchanged on the black market. best Chris
    17. if it had not been a so very obvious "out of the woodwork barnfind" I would actually have hesitated a minute before landing it. the stamps seemed to good to be true. but it is A-OK and me be happeeee ! :-)
    18. I have seen a number of those WW1 large decorative death certificates to French soldiers, mounted with the medaille Militaire and CdG. Somewhere on the web I read that this was an automatic award for a KIA. Can anyone confirm this? Best Chris
