    1. Sorry, I meant 1933, not 1913. I wonder if the records are availible somewhere in a dark cellar.....
    2. Hi, I would expect any bar mounted after the mid 30s to have the Ehrenkreuz ? WW2 or post WW2.
    3. Hi, sorry, over looked this. I could not have identified the maker, but it looks to be a nice WW2 example, I think many still have a finish like this. What I do find very unusual... why on earth is there no Ehrenkreuz on the bar if WW2 mounted?
    4. Wow... very nice indeed. I did some research on the sector, Souville etc. http://www.kaiserscross.com/136501/134101.html and his division.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/134122.html
    5. Hi, Does anyone know if the records of this association still exist? Was it formed in 1913? http://www.ebay.de/itm/Bayern-Originaler-Ausweis-des-Ordens-der-bayerischen-Tapferkeitsmedaille-/221434258733?pt=Militaria&hash=item338e82a52d
    6. I ended up getting 3-4 of them way back when---- they were great pieces indeed... I stuck with the textbook woven ones.
    7. I spent many pleasant hours drinking Franken Wein with a man who was originally a Totenkopf man, but was at the Signals School during the battle. He then joined the 30th January division. Up until the 90s he did not know the title existed.. just to show how rare it was....
    8. Okay... from left to right starting with the Pro Patria 359043 030827 043935 81030 6358 (This not on the back, but on the rim, which must have taken some doing....) I have bo first names, but the name Broom is pretty rare in South Africa. I got the group as i said near Simonstown... I think there was only one Broom in the cape town telephone book (maybe a son), but noone answered when I called...
    9. Although he cannot spell Camerone... I bet a beer his account has been read by many, many, many more people over the last 10 years than in any Legion books. By that I mean, he reaches a very wide audience... and I think probably fires up the imagination... I remember camerone every year, standing with presented arms, the kepi biting into the forehead, frowninh and waggling my ears to reduce the pain... while the recital of the battle was read out.... But I gotta admit... his version is not bad either... In 1863 the French Emperor Napoleon III was being a dumbshit and trying to ###### with Mexico for some reason that is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. The important thing for this story is that the French Army was besieging the Mexican town of Puebla, and it wasn't really going so hot for them. - See more at: http://www.badassoftheweek.com/index.cgi?id=352802417164#sthash.44PV0mr6.dpuf The Mexican commander approached the Cameron Inn under a flag of peace. He told Danjou, "you guys are basically ######ed so you might as well just give up". Danjou looked at him cooly and responded: "We have munitions. We will not surrender." The Legion began to fortify their position, and the Mexicans attacked. - See more at: http://www.badassoftheweek.com/index.cgi?id=352802417164#sthash.44PV0mr6.dpuf
    10. Hi, Agreed, A Wikipedia article would be more down to earth, but I found that article googling her and was fascinated by the site... the extreme diversity he uses in choosing his "Bada$$es" of the week is fascinating, he covers every nation, every era (even tossing in the odd Fictional character). I thought it refreshing that this lady would have an article about her on a site that uses the language of the modern "cool" Teenager... it would bring her to an audience that would otherwise never have known she existed. Best Chris
    11. Here is her Story.... http://www.badassoftheweek.com/galard.html
    12. For an American site to name this Lil ole lady one of their "Bada$$ of the week" candidates.... you just know there has to be a story..... Genevieve de Galard-Terraube ... A REAL Hero.....

    15. Hi, Not really my field, so just a guess, US stamped ones between USD25-50... "Pure Brit" maybe USD100-150 ? If I saw it I would probably have dropped EUR80, but a guy collecting British stuff would maybe pay more.
    16. Its had 100 years of "things" flowwing through europe to land up there ;-)
    17. I would guess the equiv of EK1 and DKiG, although the award systems are different.
    18. Edward Keith Byrne ... also had a DSO. They are not that easy to find, you much more often see the US ones.
    19. Hi, a fantastic and scarce find!!! Furze... something does not smell right there though......
