    1. The French 27th Infantry Regiment was not in Russia in 1917. A MM without a Croix de Guerre seems unlikely,.... I would guess a German soldier Wound and Combattants Cross, sexied up with an added Medaille Militaire? Best Chris p.s. German 27th Infantry Regiment was not in Russia either that year, but it could have been the 27th bavarian Inf Regt who were...
    2. I dont know, as I said above, guys in the LIR WERE called Garde Füsilier. As they were in the same division, they shared a Feld rekruten Depot... often the Rekruten Depot distributed soldiers where they were needed, and not to their regiments of origin.
    3. What was the composition of the LIR? I have a few LIR regiment EK documents, one to a guy who joined the regiment in 1915, his 1917 EK doc has him as "Garde Füsilier". The guy above is Schütze (MG man), the 3rd doc is an Uffz.... So the bog standard Infantryman is "Garde Füsilier".....
    4. I would say.... anyone who is so greedily hoarding the MG shovels.... is simply a tool!
    5. At this time the SB Rohr was guarding the Kaisers HQ, so the Kronprinz probably also got a "loyal troop" to guard him. Which would explain why he was awarding the EK.
    6. This is an interesting one... does anyone know who signed? and the unit?? is it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtrupp ? Thanks Chris
    7. It is for 25 years service, best Chris

    9. I am a cutthroat razor shaver. I used to have an old ERN Razor to do the dirty. I must go through the box and see if i still do!!
    10. It arrived today.... Seems German Customs is not as efficient as it used to be ;-) 2 Months they had it! "" Monate Zoll erfahrung" shuld be added to FW and MG training ;-)
    11. Hi, depends VERY much on the region.... which Region is it?
    12. Its not entered in the book that Buchmüller spent 2 months at the Zoll somtime in his career.....
    13. It would be a very wild guess, but maybe the base of a Medium werfer?
    14. Hi, I dont think it can be, they are bavarian, Best Chris
    15. Leutnant d. Res. Ed Giesler, RIR266, killed on the 21st of August 1917 on Height 344 at Samagneux at Verdun

    17. I thought I had unloaded this years and years ago, but it was still in a drawer... and is still a mystery.... according to google, the name Zelwsky does not exist!!
    18. Imagine the slapstick movie.... Man in recruiting office--- he is filling out the form...Married... "Yes".... In the background you see a piano falling out of a 3rd story window, landing on someone... he turns around... looks.... turns back...scratches out the "yes" and writes "no".... At that moment a nubile young hussy walks by and he scratches out the "no" and writes "about to be"... Then tosses the papers to the recruiting Sgt and says "Sorry, not joining afterall... I suddenly have something worth living for...." Then he runs out, jumps over the remains of ex-wife, and jogs after miss nubile.... Camera turns to confused face of recruiting Sgt....
