    1. Joe, Nice Tauchretter display, including the two pull-down propaganda pieces! Thank you very much for the information regarding the production and distribution of these pieces. I don't know anything about the P.W.E. agancy, but I'll begin my research. Will most certainly keep you in mind if I decide to sell my "comic book". Best Regards, Erik
    2. Thank you Gordon, for yet more insight into the unchartered waters of U-Boat badges not within the realm of the known and accepted. Here is a tombak "Juncker" in my collection. It is different from most of the similar badges as the swastika and deck gun are "cut out". Best Regards, Erik
    3. Here you go, Paul! Best resolution that would meet the 150k constraint. Hope that you can read the text. Best, Erik
    4. I have a great little book pertaining to the U-Bootwaffe. It's quite comprehensive. Haven't seen a volume that addresses the entire Kriegsmarine though. Best Regards, Erik
    5. I have two interesting artifacts apparenty used by the Allies to discourage U-Boat enlistment. It would be appreciated if anyone has information as to how these were used. The first is a "comic book" approach telling the sad story of 18-year-old G?nther Harthmuth's short career in the U-Bootwaffe.
    6. I'm confused as to what the differences are between the British pattern 37 and 40. I have the pictured tunic, bought several years back for a modest investment on eBay (I can see the smirks out there!) It has, as all good eBay items do, a story. The story is that the seller, who lives in the Netherlands, bought this form a German woman who claimed that it was her father's, who was a Gefreiter in the U-Bootwaffe. An e-mail from the woman to this effect was in the pocket of the tunic. The seller claimed that the woman also told him that the shoulder straps were cut off in order to reduce the possibility of getting caught in the cramped quarters of a U-Boat. I would appreciate any opinions regarding this tunic. Has anyone ever heard of removing shoulder straps from British battle dress in order to make them U-Boat ready? Thanks! Erik
    7. Thanks, Gentlemen. Now the quest for the ever-elusive Emsmann and Lohs begins! Best, Erik
    8. Thanks for the comments, Nesredep and Joe. Joe, the card is a single sheet heavy paper card with nothing on the back. It is stand-alone, not in a book or attached to anything else. There is not much else to show: the one picture I posted pretty much tells it all. It really is rather unique. Would love to see other examples if anyone else has one. Best, Erik
    9. Here is a station card from a U-406 grouping in my collection. I haven't seen this type of card featured in any of the KM/U-Boat books. I would assume that these would be issued at the beginning of a crewman's service.
