    1. ..the back of the unidentified Kriegs repro clasp with the modern looking pin set-up. Any comments and further info on these repros are great as well. Cheers, Pat
    2. Next up is a Kriegsmarine Clasp of some kind (any help on ID is great) repro. I don't know much about this one, but I don't think any original badges have the pin set-up that this one has. Cheers, Pat
    3. Reverse of the Gau Baden repro made by SBW (BSW spinoff logo). No chance on this one being original with all those "bubbles" and pitting caused by low-pressure casting methods. Cheers, Pat
    4. Here is a repro Gau Baden badge made by the English chap whos name escapes me (please help if you know him), but his initials are engraved on the back as a spoof of the BSW logo to show it is a repro. I have quite a few of these "BSW" made copies, and they all are of higher end badges. A nice placeholder. Cheers, Pat
    5. and the back of this sad Luft Flak badge repro, the details and manufacture are quite poor indeed. Pat
    6. Here is an ugly Luft Flak copy. Probably the worst copy I have ever seen. I dare you to top this one! Enjoy, Pat
    7. Here is the reverse of the motorabzeichen. The pin is clearly not period and the pitted finish gives it away as a repro. It looks like it could be from the 60's or 70's when these were popular with bikers. Cheers, Pat
    8. Hello gentlemen, I thought it would be a good idea to post a few of my repros for the aid of fellow newcomers to the hobby. It is good to see some known repros for comparison values and what to look for in a fake. I didn't pay more than $10 for any of these so they are legit repros, and not fakes meant to fool someone. Nice placeholders for awards that I will NEVER be able to acquire though, so they do serve a purpose. If I have mistaken one that is original please let me know, but I am 99.9% sure they are all repros. First one is the Deutsche Motorabzeichen badge. This one is a cast copy, but a neat design and a rare badge if you can find an original. Cheers, Pat
    9. Last pic for today, the reverse of the Elgin Reg. I have the pins for all of these badges but it looks better on the scans with them removed also. Cheers, Pat
    10. The second piece I got today, and Elgin Regiment of Canada badge. I love the scenic pic of the beaver in his natural habitat, great design! If it wasn't for the oxidation on the edges it would be minty, but a nice ww2 cap badge nonetheless. Thanks for looking and please feel free to leave any comments! Pat
    11. Hello again, Picked up a couple more today for the Canuck collection. First up is a British Columbia Dragoons cap badge that has been polished with emery so it has lost some detail and missing one lug, but the price was right! I am a born and bred British Columbian so I will buy any BC related militaria! Here are the scans, Cheers, Pat
    12. From what I have gathered on the other forum, there are a very small number of the "elongated" type writing style that are period original. I think this is the style that was still made post-war by the same maker, but I could be wrong. Sorry about the reverse scan on mine being on an angle, but I didn't want to chance re-breaking the pin on the reverse by putting pressure on it from the scanner lid. I can probably make another attempt if you guys want, but my pin connector plate is the same as the Joe's and Robert's. This leads to the conclusion that they were all made by W.REDO and not copies, but when each one was made is the dilemma I think Robert's is most likely period and Joe's is probably period judging by the wear on it and how long he has had it, making it one of the few examples of that type of printing that was period. I hope more light can be shed on this interesting pin. Cheers, Pat
    13. Here is a scan of the reverse, with a good view of the rust which has sprouted a bit. I am not sure what type of ferrous material it is as there isn't much bare metal showing from under the black paint and the rust. It is a stamped hollow-back piece as well. Any help is great on the previously mentioned questions or any comments in general are awesome. Thanks again, Pat
    14. Hello gents, Just picked up this nice little Condor Legion wound badge stickpin in black. I am pretty sure it is the 1936 model as it is the old style helmet with the swaz, and it is made of iron, steel or tin I believe as it is highly magnetic and has some rust. The pin itself is a little bent offline where it connects to the badge, but I dare not try to bend it back as it would certainly break. I was just wondering if there was any way to tell for sure if it was used by Condor Legion or if it was maybe just one of the first ones given out as they switched to the newer model in 1940 I think. Any corrections on my info and opinions on this stickpin are very welcome. Cheers, Pat
    15. Thanks Hendrik and Stogieman, Any chance on tracking down the owner on this one? Or is it probably to common a combination to find? I just posted on my other thread on ribbon bars about seeking info on how to trace these and it goes ditto for this piece. Of course, any help by the pros like Rick Research and Stogie is always welcome as well in ID'ing the owner, but any tips on how to track down the soldier down would be really helpful for future reference. Cheers, Pat
    16. Hello gents, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or links for tracking down the owners of ribbon bars. I am interested in possibly tracking down the first bar I posted (with the Bavarian w/swords and the Luftschutz) and any help by the Ricks or anyone else is really appreciated as I love finding out everything I can about a piece so one day I can set up a museum or something with full pics and stories to go with the pieces (my dream!). Cheers, Pat
    17. Fascinating thread! This is an extremely nice bar that one day I could only wish to own Finding out who the recipient was is extremely interesting as it fills out the story of the piece. I have a couple short ones but I imagine it is near impossible to research those ones as so many soldiers would have the same medals. These longer ones are probably a little bit easier to find info on, but still a needle in the haystack of remaining pics and documents that survived the war, kudos to Rick again. Has anyone found any more info on this General? I think I heard about him in a D-Day documentary or two, and he is definitely an infamous member of the Wehrmacht. Nice find Chris, by the way did you acquire the German cross in silver and the Knights cross as well? Cheers, Pat
    18. Good idea Dan, I thought the gold wasn't coming out as much either in the scan. Here is my tweaked scan which brings out the gold better. My scanner tends to scan everything that's gold or brass with a coppery tinge, I'll have to keep tweaking it I guess. Cheers, Pat
    19. And here is the reverse, with that much talked about maker mark. Enjoy the new scans! Pat
    20. Here is part two of my package I received from Dan yesterday, this Wernstein? GAB. I am very pleased with the condition and maker of this badge, and she's another happy immigrant to Canada and my collection. I took some new scans to set Dan's mind at ease that it arrived safely Thanks again for parting with this one Dan, and like the Aux, it is in a good home! Cheers, Pat
    21. Here is the new scan (in a new country!) of this zinc Souval Aux Cruiser. This has always been my favourite Kriegs badge (and favourite overall) as my family is all from Norway and Sweden so this Viking reference has always been around in my life (our family reunion mascot is Hagar the Horrible ). Cheers and enjoy the new scans, Pat
    22. Hello all, Just received this beauty from Dan, another new immigrant to Canada and my collection. The gold is even nicer in person and I love this badge. It is funny that this is another Souval, it seems 90% of my stuff comes from old Rudolf Souval. I will post some new scans of this badge, and thanks again Dan for parting with her after all these years, she will be kept in great care! Cheers, Pat
    23. Nice cap badges Larry I especially like the Wiltshire Reg't, very simple but effective, and I have seen a couple of yours at my "secret stash" of cap badges in Vernon (the place is a Canadian militaria goldmine). I have a question while we're on topic, do most Cap Badges have the attached pin coming off of the back with one open end? I noticed all of the ones you have posted have this feature. This attached hook like the ones posted earlier this thread is on my English and NZ cap badges, but all of my Canadian ones have the dual loop-one separate pin set-up. Maybe it is sorted out by country with England, NZ and Australia with the attached pin and the Canadians with the dual loops. I have quite a few (posted in this forum) and every one of the Canuck badges have that dual-loop set-up. Also a part B to the question, what is the easiest way to distinguish between true "cap badges" and "collar badges", as I for one have been guilty of lumping them all together, like many others. Here is an example of what I am talking about, the reverse of my RCEME Cap? Collar? badge with the two loops and the pin. Cheers, Pat
    24. Fur Mutter und Kind 1934. I believe this is another WHW piece, and I don't think it has been shown yet (unless it was on one of Ralph A's collages!) Cheers, Pat
    25. and the reverse of this W.Redo DVG Westmark pin. Any opinions are great and be sure to post your examples. Cheers, Pat
