    1. The irony is that if these medals are original , he would have gotten more for them if he had sold them separately. It seems that many people are on to his game.
    2. Yes, i did see this medal bar on ebay for sale when i was having a look-see a couple of days ago. What struck me first about it was the fact that if you count them there are awards from prussia, mecklenburg-schwerin, mecklenburg strelitz, lippe-detmoldt, anhalt, lubeck, bremen, hamburg, brunswick and finally hesse. This is a total of 10 different states represented on this bar , not to mention the different countries like WW1 germany, Nazi Germany, Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary, Finland etc... Also, correct me if i am wrong, but with the amount of awards that I am seeing here, he should have had a higher grade award, such as a house order of hohenzollern or a Red Eagle fourth class. In my humble opinion, this leaves this bar with three possibilities: A: This belonged to some super guy who fought in a host of places, but if that is true then why doesn't he have higher grade awards? B: This was the Kaiser's secondary bar for when he lost his normal one C: It is a fake, an assessment which i am sure most of you will agree with me about. The only question is, is this a fake bar made up of genuine medals, or a completely fake creation? Considering the fact that it is made up of awards which relatively don't cost that much, i am inclined to think that some of the medals may be original. However, i'll leave this to those more experienced then me to verify. Wow, that was longer than i thought it was going to be, Matthew
    3. Update: I also found this mark on an arts and science medal from anhalt, but also on a couple of a coins?! Could anyone please help me figure out if the mark belongs to the above medal, as i know it is rare, with less than 2000 issued. Thanks a lot. Matthew
    4. Does any one have an example of a Lippe Detmold Military Merit Medal with a mark under the wreath on the side displaying the rose. On an example that i have found for sale by emedals there is a mark which i can't make out completely clearly, but seems to read G. LOOSDIR. Is this a common mark or something personalised? Many thanks in advance.
    5. Thanks a lot for all your advice. I will try to lay my hands on any informative books/articles i can on german medals. However, with respect to medal shows, i live in Malta, which due to various reasons (including small size and having been a british possession in both World Wars), does not host any medal fairs/shows, especially not German ones! By the way, is there any indication apart from price that this is a fake, so if i come across any more examples i will be able to tell for myself? Once again, thanks for your help. I feel soory for those who bid on it and are expecting the real thing (unless their willing to pay so much for a fake)
    6. Sorry, forgot to mention that he . Sorry, forgot to mention that he states that the 936 mark is on the clasp, and that an 800 mark is on the jump ring.
    7. Hi all, I found this Pour Le Merite on Ebay. The seller says its original, but i am a bit sceptical. Not having much experience, I would like some help. For one thing, although at the time of writing it has 10 bids, it is only priced at 101 euro. What would be the likely price for a Pour Le Merite. He also says it is hallmarked with a 936 mark as well as the letters SW, which i am not sure what they stand for. The nearest match I can find is my Iron Cross 2nd class, which was made by Sy and Wagner. He also gives a weight of 23 grams, which does seem a little light. As I already said, I'm only sixteen and have only been collecting for two years.
    8. Thanks, in fact i didn't bid on it. You were right, there is a difference between the two.
    9. I saw this on ebay, and i'm tempted to bid on it. I would greatly value some opinions on it, as i have only been collecting for two years and don't know much about this particular military merit medal. Thanks in advance
    10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=400235828542 Hi, I've purchased this silver navy wound badge, but i would value some opinions on it as i haven't been collecting for a long time. I had to write down the URL because i can't (or haven't figured out how) upload pictures of good quality yet. Thanks a lot
