    1. So... all options are still open. But didn't you mention that his L" wasn't mentioned in the reference-books?? Could that mean that he hasn't asked for permission to wear them??
    2. Even common medals can't be always boring!!! But it is allowed to remain quiet Thanks for your answer anyway.
    3. OOOH again... How can I ever obtain my Ir and MSc with such a stupid answers and not reading papers correctly?? Indeed Reserve lieutenant of the Netherlands Army stationed in Nymegen.... Mind that he became later a Major.. But if you know the place... Nijmegen is quite far away from the Dutch-Belgian borders... I would doubt if they had there a refugee's camp, I thought that Refugee's camps were relatively close to the borders, so people were helped immediately when they crossed the border... But.. I'm sure that you will correct me when I'm wrong!! for your sharp observance!!! Cheers
    4. Stunning pieces.. where do you find them Would love one too And yes, would have to take a look again on your website and read every bit of your information and pictures!!!
    5. I don't know about it, the paper only mentions that it was awarded by the ministerie of foreign affairs... But further... Nothinkg known. Might be indeed the refugee's, but also possible is that he worked on an embassy as a militairy attachee?? Give me your 2 cents for you too!!!
    6. Kevin, Found someone with a lot of palmes and lions Baron Willy Coppens de Houthulst This man had been awarded a lot of Croix d'Guerres, poland, Italia, France, Portugal ..... But for his belgian Croix d'Guerre he had; 27 palmen and 13 bronze lions Which means 1 gold palm and 3 silver palms.... But If I were him, I would stick to my 1 gold palm, 2 bronze palms and 13 lions Will translate this webpage soon...
    7. Thanks Kevin , Special for you... My other Croix d'Guerre WW1 with 2 palms. Did you know, lions are quite rare, because after a certain time veterans were allowed to change their lions for palms, a little upgrade!! Possibly because of the amount of ribbon needed to have a lot of lions on your CdG. Changing them for palms means that you could use the gold / silver / bronze palms. Bearing in mind that one gold palm is already 25 mentions in the order of the day...... Silver palms denoted 5 mentions in the order of the day..... And having 25 citations in Lions is quite a lot!!! Maybe hendrik know's someone having awarded so many?? or..... he owns one such palm...??? Thanks for your
    8. To recap it. This man, A.A Schilleman was; a Major in the dutch Infantery Awarded; Knight Orange-Nassau Officers Long Service decoration with 15 years clasp. Mobilisation-WarCross for WorldWar 1 Knight of the Order of Leopold II Certainly a distinguished man!! A brevet for all our paper-boys Hopefully they won't get mad

    10. Out of the same miracle box as the uniform I posted before... Here comes the ... Rabbit
    11. The mini-lion isn't an unofficial device, it is OFFICIAL!!! The belgian had 6 devices for the Croix d'Guerre. Gold palm for 5 Silver palms Silver palm for 5 bronze palms, so a gold palm for 25 bronze palms. A Bronze palm was for a Citation in the order of the day of the army, then a gold, silver and bronze lion, which were for devision, brigade and regimental mention in the order of the day. *oops, hendrik did already mention it, 4 post before this.... * to hendrik for his post and my excuses for being rude
    12. I didn't have hendrik's lion, but a lion on a circlet... I would love to have such a stilised lion...
    13. And here is mine... Got it with a group with also knights of Leopold II and order of the crown. But also the french Croix d'Guerre with palm
    14. Oh... 20 years.... inflation of 4 percent each year.... That would make 1,04^20 = 220% roughly So about $550,- nowadays... Still not a bad sale innit??
    15. Thanks Hendrik, I was wondering what this medal was. Just a long service like the other labor-decorations. Could you explain after how many years one get the Labor decoration 2nd class? then 1st class Outstanding Decoration 2nd Class? Outstanding Decoration 1st Class? Or were those used for people already having been awarded the gold medal or palms?? Thanks in advance..
    16. Lovely!! Little cute thing with only ages of wearing... Finding a box for this.... can be really tricky and a long pain... Good work!!! Only $ 250,- Cheers
    17. Igor, Lovely group!!! Up to a short time ago, I had a little french group attributed to a French Colonel; Colonel Asui Officer Legion d'Honneur Croix d'Guerre des TOE with 1 gold palm, 2 gold stars and 4 bronze stars Croix d'Valeur militaire with 2 silver stars. Maybe one knows this colonel asui??? Would like to know more about him. Sadly enough nog pictures more, deleted them after having sold the group.
    18. Oopsss... the heat golf didn't any good to my brains. I wrote it down from my memory..... Yes it is mutualite onderlinge bijstand.... Should stop using my memory during hot days Could you tell something more special about this award?? Cheers
    19. The central disc only says; "* Moralit? * bijzondere ondersteuning" What can you make out of it??
    20. Haha, I don't own one of them, otherwise I would have sold it very very very quick... I don't consider it one of the beautifull medals... See my belgian medals.. But I wonder what it's criteria are... For the russian civil war... but then what did (wo)man have to do for it?? Kind regards
    21. Followed the link, Found this picture... what is this????
    22. Knight of the Crown, An other example except for the 3 above, which aren't in my posession, This one has still the bright silver swords on it, also very very vibrant blue colors. Can't make a better scan of it.... But one day.... I will buy a digital camera.....
    23. To Compare.... Silver Palms Order of the Crown This one is quite old (found with an old group of WW2) Compare this one with the relatively new Gold Palms in the very beginning of this thread. I sold my Silver Palms a week ago, It was exactly the same as the relatively new Gold Palms, Considered it Ugly So sold them and bought this example.... Okay, a lot of patina, most of the shiny silver has gone, but it's just age innit??? Just like most wines... They become better with age
    24. It was on a online market, I saw that he wanted to everything separately, immediately sent him an email... Got an answer, 2 weeks later, some items weren't bidded ( except for the loosy 2 euro bids ) So I didn't have to persuade him to sell them to me, then I heard of other medals. Like a "IJser"cross etc, which are quite rare, so THEY DID SELL without loosy bids!!! yet... I WANTED THEM TOO, but they had already sold...... Got a picture... Showing the whole group, with a picture... Except for my medals, also the 2 officers without swords ( thought they should be with swords) anyway, made a bid, he wanted 100,- for them with the picture. Way too much, and next day, someone else bought them.... I asked him to give my emailadress to the buyer.. No respons.... I got an email 2 weeks later.... If he could buy my group... for very very very low price, of course, denied.... I could get a copy of his picture, only if I would sell my medals to him... Well, I only have one answer..... BYE BYE Well it was a long story, with sometimes rude people. Or people who split groups because they want to make more profit.... But the majority of the group is in MY posession and I have already contacted someone for the officers, Will get them within 2 weeks. Also looking for a commander of leopold II Maybe also within 2 weeks. You will hear from me
