    1. Collection is boxed-up to do some work in the house.., but before it goes in storage I'd like to show my Hartmann jacket to those interested.. Rather used, but I like it a lot as it is.. There're many fakes of these jackets or ones not used by pilots, but this one was used by a pilot. You can see the shoulderpart at the back looks rather scuffed by the wear of the swimmingvest and parachute, while at front there's less damage actually, because that part is covered by the lungs of the swimmingvest plus there's less tension there.. The lining of the pockets is made of rather stiff kinda coated "oilcloth".. Jacket came with money still in one of the pockets, 3 German WW2 coins and a Belgian coin plus a movie theater ticket.. Jos.
    2. Besides that the eagle might've been replaced I see no problem.. Think I've a similar off. upgraded one. Jos.
    3. I see it like this, but maybe too simple..? When fighter units moved to the next "airfield" all stuff had to be moved plus people had to be flown around, equipment etc.. In the light of that you need transporters attached to the unit.., no ? A bit like gliders and Ju52 attached to para units.. Jos.
    4. Yes, seen them being marked 1938..., might be the most early ? Can't recall I saw one 1937 marked, but I haven't seen too many to know that much of these items..., haven't seen one sofar 1944 marked either .. Jos.
    5. What's the most early and most late date found on these tins ? Jos.
    6. Do you mean the breast plate with straps etc.. ? Saw quite some transmitters, but never the breast plate.. Jos.
    7. Here're both shields compared.. I believe joe's shield to be the original.., and the other one the so-called small 4. Also check both points of the anchor..., but there're more small differences.. Jos.
    8. Andreas, very desirable pair... super ! Fran?ois, Yup, this is a 2nd model with clear lenses.., very rare shot.. ( it's not a pair like the 2nd models on Ebay though, be careful !). It's the first pic which shows a combination like this, all other pics showed dark lenses sofar and I've to be careful, but I still think the 2nd type was only issued with dark lenses.. When we look at the date Haugk got his Knightcross we see it's close to 1943, so I've a feeling he might have changed the lenses by a pair of 3rd model clear lenses or had asked for a pair, cause I'm pretty sure the 3rd model lenses also fit the 2nd model frame and even the 1st model.. BUT.., it's just a guess, because I don't know when the 3rd models came out. Actually we should try to find out by studying dated pics etc.. Just a thought based on the original 2nd models we've seen sofar in collections.., all have dark lenses. Jos.
    9. Here're both Rudel's N&G 3rd model goggles which proves these 2nd type hinges were used and most probably only with the foldable model. Jos.
    10. Bingo, Andreas ! Yes, they're the 2nd type hinges, very unusual.. Also, the hinges aren't square but in a angle where the strap is attached.. First time I see a set like this .. I'll call it the RUDEL type.. Jos.
    11. Thanks Otis.. Now I see, it's more a general prescription about Ultrasin lenses and who used them in their goggles.. it's 1937 dated, might be a indication towards the first model.. "Nitsche & Guenther" used the lenses ofcourse, but also "Merz-Werke" .. and I think maybe leitz also. I'm curious what types of goggles Merz-Werke made, all I know is they made goggles for car drivers/motor drivers, flashlights etc...... Jos.
    12. Bit of a up-date.. From the beginning of this thread till now I've found a N&G 2nd model marked 1 and I've seen 2 pairs which were marked 3, so they do exist, but are very scarce..., the majority we've seen were marked 2, which probably is the size that will fit most men. I've posted a picture of my 3rd foldable model, does anyone notice something ? Jos.
    13. Hi Otis, Interesting paper, yes, I would like to see it close-up if possible ? In case of N&G goggles you can post them in this thread, if you want.. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=925&st=60 In case of rubber goggles just open a new thread and we'll see what happens then.., have no clue how many members have them actually.. Yes, your type of N&G are the regular 3rd type, as I will call them, the foldabe one might be a later ( improved) pair and more practical to store or to put in the pocket etc.. Jos.
    14. Hi Otis, Nice set ! They're not the same though IMO. I think your set is not completely foldable, but just for a part, no ? I'm curious about the instruction and address, do you mind posting a pic of that ? Here's a pic to show what I mean with completely foldable.. Jos.
    15. Nice.., have seen a few other examples Very typical also.. In the light of that I always wonder why the army had textbook off.webbelts with round buckles and luft did not.. Jos.
