Little help needed with this one, have just read "German Assault Troops of World War 1 by Wictor which gives a good description of the work of the Infanterie-Geschütz-Batterie's in the field as an ex gunner what a job hauling the guns under fire to engage in open sights across no mans land....... I cannot read his name, but his previous service with Feld-Artillerie-Regiment von Holtzendorff (1. Rheinisches) Nr.8 would have given him great technical know how........has anyone details on Infanterie-Geschütz-Batterie 21 and if mentioned in any period books, many thanks, Paul

    11. No......American, The Steuben Society was established in May, 1919 and I think based in upper New York state. Here's a link I found: http://www.steubensociety.org/ From what I know, the medal is likely for scholastic achievement and/or fostering good citizenship among the German-American community.
