    1. Good luck finding a copy of Jeff's book...at a decent price. I was in the right place and the right time when offered the book. Hundreds of dollars when trying to buy one through any book retailer. Do you have this book: Handbuch Deutscher Waffenstempel auf Militar-und Diensthandwaffen 1871-2000 by Albrecht Wacker and Joachim Gortz? All in German but with any knowledge of the language, you can get good info from it. Not cheap either but affordable. You can only get it out of Germany and through Amazon Germany. Ed
    2. My mistake, different company, same regiment, which proves the armorer/s were consistent with his/their markings. Jeff does not quote the ser#. What would be interesting to see if it was the same armorer by examining the markings either by Luger or photographs and to find out if both markings are both on the trigger guard also, since both Lugers are 1915 dated, Jeff might know. He doesn't say in his book. I'll go through the years later today and see if he has anymore listed under the other years. DWM 1915 3.M.G.K.N.14. L.J.R.K.W.II.N.2. <two lines> (Maschinengewehr-Kompagnie 3, Waffe Nr.14) (Landwehr Infantry-Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm II Nr. 2) Jeff is a member here and he might be interested in having your info for his reference materials. I can't scan it, my scanner went on the bum just before Christmas and I haven't replacement it yet.
    3. Just looking at it closely, following the number lines vs the smudge lines.
    4. Your Luger is listed on page 90 of Jeff Noll's book, The Imperial German Regimental Marking [Revised Edition]
    5. Here is an example of a 1912 Luger that was not marked during the war but was later used in a FA unit during the Weimar Republic. '11/A.F.4.6.'
    6. A directive came out in 1915/16 about the halting of unit stamping but it was not followed. There was stamping being done up to late 1917 and into 1918, most on Erfurts, why Erfurts, got me. Unit stampings locations were not followed either, here is an example of a late unit marked Lugers and on the back strap. 1918 Erfurt: http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.php?products_id=26581 1918 Erfurt Signal Abteilung: http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.php?products_id=22933 1917 Erfurt, back strap unit marked: http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.php?cPath=179_217&products_id=29157 Only about 5% of all Lugers were unit marked for the whole of the war and before. Weimar unit marked Lugers had a / within the unit designation regardless of the date of the Luger.
    7. I do believe that cockade represent the Hanseatic regions, Bremen, Hamburg, Lubeck. The 31st was part of the 18th Div, part of the 9th Corps that came from Schleswig-Holstein.
    8. Lombard Illinois from what I've found. Here is another interesting thread on the subject: http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37134
    9. Found it...Russian. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/445504588108745397/
    10. Looking at the track and roller combination, it reminds me of a French configuration. Vickers and Renault both had track vehicles that were similar. Is it self propelled? The French had a pull behind track trailer.
    11. Relative???? http://www.ebay.de/itm/Postkarte-AK-WWI-Bayer-Radfahrer-Kompagnie-1916-/370969648597?pt=Ansichtskarte_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item565f839dd5
    12. Nice sticker................nice condition. I wouldn't think they would be that hard to find, it seems each soldier was issued two.
    13. I would have but a true friend would have given over a certain MG marked bayonet a long time ago, so, No Soup for You!!!!
    14. Here's one that was up for auction, I don't think it sold.....time to jump on it before it's gone. http://www.cowanauctions.com/peek-in-warehouse/item.aspx?ItemId=122439
    15. Won't the public have access to an on-line catalog like RIA Auctions provide? I believe I was informed of the last auction and was able to see it all.
    16. Not always leichte but in 1916, early 1916 the MGSs Trupps numbered 1-200, these were the guys selected for further training and were authorized the sleeve badge.
    17. As you know MG units didn't follow uniformity when marking their Lugers. From a good source, some SS Abt marked Lugers as troop, being the only MG unit in the division. From a listing of the MGSs Abteilungs, Troop 9 was assigned to the 4.J.D. and a MG Troop were always Leichte M.G.-Trupps
    18. UPDATE: I have found this MG unit Troop 9 was part of the 4th Inf Div and it was the division Machinengewehr-Scharfschutzen Abts. A Pomerania Div and it was rated First Class.
    19. It out does all the other medic photos I have at a great price. Can't get much better. BTW, the reddish-brown stains on the armband is blood.
