This battle weary warrior showed yesterday. It's marked 15 on the ring. It looks better than in the photos.

That is a great item for any collection. -

Just got this nice EK2, a JWS marked piece. This one has good detail and a nice look. It's my 80th Iron Cross.

EK 1914 New EK1 AWS Pillowback/Screwback
Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
True, if the washer hasn't aged like the cross, it may not look right. I'm going to put my other washer on there just for a look, but I doubt it will look right. And then my other one has no washer. -
So this practice of putting a couple of initials on a cross has put us in the poorhouse?

EK 1939 New Cased EK1. Meybauer L/13
Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanks Micha. That would be like the one you have I guess? I thought I was doing well with an unmarked with the old style pin. Damn you Meybauer! -
I thought Fr and FR were two differnt makers.

I see, the frame is misaligned. Thanks -
EK 1939 New Cased EK1. Meybauer L/13

Thanks Jan. Having the case marked with the Meybauer name really added to this set. I've seen Deumer do the same, but does anyone else mark cases like this? -
EK 1914 New EK1 AWS Pillowback/Screwback
Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanks! I was happy to add this one to my collection. This is my second AWS screwback, but my first pillowback. The washer would have made it complete. -

What's the deal with the offset frame? -

Finally, here's the top of the case showing the EK motif. You can see the good condition the case is in. No scuffs at all and very clean inside. -

EK 1939 New Cased EK1. Meybauer L/13

Here's a shot of the cross in the case showing the maker's name on the case. This adds to the set in my mind. -
EK 1939 New Cased EK1. Meybauer L/13

Here's the rear showing the L/13 mark. I'm working on a side collection of Meybauer EKs so this L/13 was one I never had. -
EK 1939 New Cased EK1. Meybauer L/13

Here is another of my current pick ups. I've gotten mostly Imperial EKs, but this 39 made it in there. It's an L/13 marked EK1 by Meybauer. This one comes with a matching case also marked Meybauer. This was my first cased EK1 of any kind. The cross is decent, but the case is in top notch shape. Almost m**t. -

EK 1914 New KAG EK1

So you can get a wide crown EK2 KAG also. See, it never ends! I have 2 KAG EK2's. Here is the latest one which I assume is the reqular crown version. What's the story on this maker? They are supposed to be common, yet no one knows who they were. The amount of unknown makers has always intrigued me. -
EK 1914 New EK1 CD800

This is what makes this hobby so interesting. It's also what makes us so broke! But I love it! -
EK 1914 New EK1 AWS Pillowback/Screwback
Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Here's the rear that shows the variation that gives this cross it's name. Like I said, the backing washer is missing, which is too bad. I still like it. This cross is of a larger demension than a standard Imperial EK. -
Here's the final Imperial EK from my last spree. It's another favorite of mine, an AWS pillowback. It's an unmarked version and a screwback to boot. The only problem is the missing washer on the back. Oh well. It's still a nice piece that doesn't come around everyday. The frame appears to be made of a material other than silver.

EK 1914 New KAG EK1

Thanks for the input and thanks for finding this one for me Micha. I was pretty happy when it showed. No need to panic over medals and badges really. I wouldn't have blamed you if it was no good.
