Nice one Jock. -
Jock, Which Government? If German, then you get paperwork If U.K. then it depends on what you get (MoD compliment slip at best for none London Gazette). If NATO (not a government I know) you get paperwork etc. There is nothing wrong with 'chocolate medals' They're all deserved - good for you.
-
You are partially right. From personal experience, I think the quality of U.K. awards is generally very high for official medals & decorations. Of course in Britain, the named/engraved medal is more important than the piece of paper that comes with it. Not the case in most other European lands.

Hi Andreas, I think we need a second/third opinion about this. Hope somebody out there can contribute!!! Whatever the out-come, It's always good to share a debate. Makes research fun. Regards

Kasle, Oh I agree with you 100%. It's a case of 'jumping-on-the-bandwagon' before the band. Just like royal wedding/corronation souveniers (events that were either postponed or didn't happen). I thought It might be interesting for the readers though. By the way, I don't think the 'Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswehr für Tapferkeit' does justice to the bravery involved. Like most OMD's here in Germany they do look like - to quote a friend - "Kaugummiautomatenorden" - Bubblegum machine medals!! Thanks for your response

Does anyone know anything about this subject. Saw the attached on ebay. GERMANY – 2008 IRON CROSS FIRST CLASS – BUNDESWEHR PROPOSED MEDAL eBay item number:291504000689

Hi Andreas, Not sure I agree with you. Why no KVK1 on the larger chain? I suspect this was worn as full size. On the smaller chain, the EK is obviously 2nd class. The next higher would logically be EK1. I take your point about the reverse details. But if the larger chain shows KVK2, why not also an EK2. As you know there are many variations with mini's. Generally the quality of many 57 versions tend to lack detail of previous years. Any ideas yet of who the decorations were awarded to? Kind regards
-
Andreas, Looks like an EK2 with wiederhohlungsspange (57er).. Therefore, it would make sense for the missing to be EK1. The second Frackette is complete. So therefore, I think the mini chain was worn as it was with an an EK1 in originalgroße. Of course, you could be right with DK/RK. KVK (silber). I hope so. What a great group. Regards

Andreas, Could the missing mini also be an EK1?

Perhaps I'm being a bit too critical. The Epaulettes for a Senior Seargant do not seem quite right. Lacking the embroidery? Maybe wrong!! Hope so -

I agree the BW has problems one of them being that there are people who think it's O.K. to adopt a 'Hey Man! do your own thing' attitude. Maybe that's alright in California! - Peace Man! -

Ah! JensF, You may not be a fan of The Regulations. That I understand. But would you go on parade wearing just boxer shorts, a T-shirt and painted toe nails because you don't like the dress Regulations?? No offence, but if you are a bonafide wearer of a BW uniform then you should respect the rules - Das war ein Befehl. -

Agree with Speedytop It's a 'no go' on the DOSB, DSB as with the other two after the NATO mini (OK out of uniform). Perhaps a touch of personal vanity? JensF. It is just not quite right!!!!!! It's only my personal view. No offence meant.
