I'm begining to get your drift now. So these buttons probably represent a bygone era of dress that a unit wished to celibrate. Unusual but nice to have. Thanks Rick and David for your help. You live and learn all the time.

Tony, I'm not so sure about the one nut, it is a greyish colour and I think this could have been replaced. The base plate is not painted and is non-magnetic. I'm not sure what it's made from? There are only the two holes for the front plate that also have nuts and washers holding it in place.

Ralph, the coat-of-arms is Saxon. I've just had another look at the bar and .... I think there maybe seven awards on it. The spacing of the ribbons seems to be too wide for just the two awards after the possible Red Eagle Order. I just wish I could get a clearer picture of the bar, but even with a loupe it's still hard to see. The shoulder boards would be a help if I could see them better :speechless-smiley-004: Rick, what do you think about there being 7 awards?

Last one. This is the inside ... showing attachment nuts for the baseplate and the silk linning. I'm not sure if these nuts ever had washers beneth them. They don't look as if they have ever been removed though.

Well Gent's at last I've taken a few more pictures of my "Haube" Here's a closer look at the chinscale strap ... flat scales as befits foot regiments. A very nice fire gilded Prussian "Wappen"

One hell of a fantasic Saxon Bar Bob congratulations on obtaining it. Strange presidence though. Why is the St Henry silver medal placed above the Officer awards, or did he just rate this award above all others? Rick, did this bar come to your hands through your "Evil Twin" flame

Rick, the CDV was taken in Belin by this photographer. I worked out the first two awards and the last two the same as you. 3&4 are the mystery ones to me also :speechless-smiley-004: I've also got the feeling the guy is from a Foot Artillery Regiment as the chinscales on his Haube seem to be of the flat type.

Does anybody have any idea who this Prussian Artillery Officer is? ... Sorry for the very poor picture. This is a CDV that I have, fantastic ribbon bar, but unfortunatly I can't make out the awards .... Rick L .... Help :speechless-smiley-004:

Thanks Tony and Glenn. I'm going to get the pictures done after work tomorrow, so hopefully they'll be posted in the evening. Mind you, my camera skills aren't great but I'll do my best The lid is, as far as I can tell, all genuine, a little scared in places but that adds to it's appeal in my opinion. Tony, the cockades are original and in fantastic condition, also the chin scales are the correct and original flat patten for Foot Artillery unlike the Field Artillery offices who had convex ones. There's a manufactures stamp on the calf-skin sweatband. The silk liner is a little torn but all original. The Rear spine is lifted away from the skull but this I think is through shrinkage of the leather. Overall not in bad nick for 110 years old. Best of all it's All Mine Cheers, Mike

Rick, I think I love this badge more than the Prussian ones I have. The quality is second to none and as you say soooooooo very hard to find. The case is quality as well ... but like everything, standards started to slip towards the end of the war. Still a very nice piece in that again so very hard to find cardboard box. Yet again Stogie strikes and finds that rare item :food-smiley-004: Sorry mate that I took this one out of your collection, but it has come to a loving home and is valued. Cheers Mike

Thanks Dave and Rick .... but I'm still none the wiser. :speechless-smiley-004: Rick when you say "Napoleonic Centennial" do you mean that they were produced for uniforms related to a unit that served in the Napoleonic campagne ... such as the 73rd ? David, please expand on your reasoning. I'm really lost on this one. You surgest a Verein organisation, but how would this work?
