    3. Hi, I have posted it in an old thread but I can't resist to post it again. I like this photo Christophe
    4. You are right Brian. If you have a look in the 1924's Ranglisten, you can see that some officiers who received the PlM had colonies' awards and they have done a great job during WW1. For example Oberst von Falkenhausen and Major Schaumburg etc... Chrisotphe
    5. It is an Austrian jubilee medal Kaiser Franz Joseph. Caspari received this medal in 1898. Christophe
    6. Rick, It is interresting to see one General with man's buckle. May be the hook is better than officer buckle ? Thanks for sharing Christophe
    7. Hi everybody, It is now a very interesting thread. Brian can you post a photo of your grandfather please. Thanks a lot. I don't want to choose who are right and who are wrong. All I know is for one general he had to take the good decision to the good moment. All the mistake had got a big sequel. Remember the von Kluck'error during the Marne's battle. In spite of this he received the PlM in march 1915 for all his works, very strange indeed. If you have got more photos ofrare officers who received the PlM, don't hesitate to post them. Christophe
    8. the ribbon bars. I don't know if this group belong to Efler, but the guy who have this splendid group is a lucky man. Note that my trapeziodal ribbon bar has got the ribbon of iron cross 2nd class Christophe
    9. Hi everybody, I have bought the Efler'sbook about Waldeck medals, and on page 184 I see this : complet egroup of Hauptmann Caspari Have a look Christophe
    10. You are right David. Remember that some old Generals, like von Hindenburg were opposed to give such medal to young officer (like Ernst Juenger). But like we can see, the young officers played with theirs lives all the time and only their valour will be rewarded, not only for a single action but for all the actions they realized during the war. I will post now some of young officer with Pour le M?rite. Leutnant Schnieber
    11. Many thanks for your nice words. Bob, please find the photo of my "avatar". This ribbon bar belonged to Major Lukas Ritter von Kaufmann
