    1. I tend to use cotton buds/ear cleaners and a toothpick. The hair dryer idea is spot on. Where do we stand on excessive vert de gris? I have removed it in the past, but left a stain in the medals patination. :speechless1:
    2. Evening chaps I picked this up this morning at a carboot. Very inexpensive, but it was shiny and caught my eye. Obviously it is a modern repro, but of what?? Thanks Dan
    3. Absolutely outstanding! I have never seen anything with the miniscule detail like this. Marvelous!
    4. I couldnt believe that one just sold for ?5800 on ebay! i will be studying my change from now on!
    5. Nice collection Justin Soviet awards are always so colourful, very nice
    6. Thanks Otto! one last question - what are the diameter of the wooden stands? 45mm? Dan
    7. Hi Otto, i think its great - very imaginative! Where do you but the wood stands from? Do you laminate the aluminium yourself? Dan
    8. Did you make the medal stands yourself? They are fantastic. Have you any ifo on them? Dan
    9. Thanks for that Mike, i should have known that already! I still havent seen any though.... Dan
    10. Does any one know of any Aussie or South African recipients of the defence medal? Presumably these would be Naval and aircrew?
    11. With its miniture note the difference in the laurel sprays. This mini is quite a new addition and definately a favourite!
    12. Defence medal with Kings commendation for Bravery, and miniture This is quite interesting as i believe that the emblem is actually the laurel branch for the post 1933 military Empire Gallantry Medal.
    13. I thought that i would post my ongoing WWII collection of campaign and service medals. I have been collecting since i was 9 or 10, when my dad recieved a war, defence and 39/45 star as part of a coin colection he purchased at a fair. These were duly given to me and the rest is history. Its just a shame that i no longer have these 3 medals which first piqued my interest. My collecting aim is to have one of each service medal and campaign star, with each combination of clasp available, and eventually in the case of named medals, each prefix available. So here we go, service Medals first - Defence medal
    14. The above Royal Carabinieri actually came with this little chap - which i first thought was a British Grenadier Guards badge. What are your thoughts? It is very heavy weight, with odd luggs to the rear.
