ALCON I found this Feldspangen (Ribbon bar) on a website today. What does everyone think about it? I was trying to see earlier today if it is a possible combination. To me the awards look like: 1) EK2 (1914) w/ 1939 Spange, 2) Crown Order 3X or 4X....possibly a rare device for a HOH3x 3) Baden Zahringer Lion Medal either 1st or 2nd Class with Oakleaf (Staff Officer) 4) Brunswick Merit Medal 2nd Klass (w/ horse device for two years front line service) 5) ? (Austria) 6) Hindenburg Cross with swords 7) SS Long Service 25 year? 8) SS Long Service 12 year? 9) Sudeten Medal 10) West Wall Medal * Most likely a EK1 (1914) It looks real to me because of soiled ribbons, but I do not feel its real.. If it is real, then this guy was probably not a frontliner? I thought that the SS did not wear double SS-runes on their long service medals (Against Regs). Plus the SS Runes look a little rough. If this is a real bar, Who did this man serve with in WW1 and WW2? I feel that it would be an easily identifiable bar. v/r ostprussenmann

Mass Executions at Dinant
ostprussenmann_new replied to Chris Boonzaier's topic in The Great War 1914 to 1918
This is a very interesting post. If anyone can provide an entire list, I would be interested also. We always seem to overlook this part of history. I have heard about this incident when reading,b ut never knew any of the units involved. Everyone seems to always blame the Germans for attrocities, but I am sure there were some on both sides. Simply killing prisioners on even grinding a foot into a wound is also against the law of war; of course the LOW did not exist back then. ostprussenmann -
I defintely agree. Minus the sloppy workmanship, not having a EK2 and the actual combination of ribbons is what made me question it. Being a part of this group has defintely opened my eyes to know what to look for now. I don't wnat nayone to make the mistake that I have in the past. I forogot who said it on here, but prior to buying anything or considering it, I always post it on here. ostprussenmann

I just received this SOLDBUCH for a member of Baden RIR 109. I can't identify the name. I known his rank, Kompanie and Unit, but I I can't figure out his name. I know that he was awarded a EK II, and Baden Silber Verdienst Medal, but I don't know the other award. Can anyone help me out? If need be, I can scan some other images from the Soldbuch, but it is in bad shape, but I had to have it since I collect items from this Regiment. This is the first Soldbuch that I have owned. What is the difference between the Soldbuch and MilitaripaB? ~ostprussenmann

Currently the medal is awarded to military members wounded in combat. There is some current talk of awarding the medal to former and current military members who have recorded PTSD and TBI.

If you look at my posting about Prussian Infantry Regiment Nr. 18 (von Grolman), there is a picture of my Great Great Uncle in a hidden button blouse with his EKII sewn onto the tunic. ostprussenmann
