Hi Guys, Was reading in a magazine earlier, that it looks like the 2008 Silver Eagle, might become more valuable than the 1996 Eagle. It appears that the US mint couldn`t get enough blanks to mint them, then the sky high price of silver means that they can`t keep up with demand, and fewer have been minted thus far. We`ll have to wait and see whether they mint more than the 1996 example, but as it stands now, it might be worth picking up a few, and puting them away for a later date? BJOW. :rolleyes:

Okey think it goes like this... Single bayonet - basic infantry. Single bayonet with wreath is class one infantry. Crossed bayonets (see below) junior Brecon. Crossed bayonets with wreath senior Brecon. These badges are worn on the right fore arm of your No.2`s.

Am I right in thinking that the first one is basic infantry badge & the second one is junior Brecon, and that there is one more for senior Brecon (sorry about the naff picture, but it was the only example I could find, but it gives you a rough idea.) Can anyone shine any more light on this?

Hi Guys thanks for all your replies. I was reading Soldier mag (August), it appears that this medal has been authorised, but it is only going to be awarded to soldiers who get killed, there will be nothing for the wounded. It remains to be seen what this medal looks like whether it`ll be named or not. I just hope that they do it justice, and don`t have some crappy thing that is an insult to the family members who`ll recieve it.....

SOLDIERS wounded in conflict zones such as Afghanistan and Iraq ought to be awarded a Purple Heart-style medal to recognise their sacrifice in battle, according to an official report. The plan, presented to armed forces chiefs last week, is one recommendation in a review commissioned by Gordon Brown to find ways of boosting respect and recognition for serving soldiers. The review, headed by Quentin Davies, a former Tory MP who defected to Labour, will also recommend that there should be public award ceremonies for all those receiving military medals, including those for bravery. They would be expected to wear their dress uniforms and a military band would play. The American Purple Heart medal dates back to 1917. Had a look on my local war memorial - there are two guys from the RWF listed as being killed during WW2, so the Regiment must have had a battalion somewhere? If that helps. Can anyone shine any light on the RWfs movements during WW2?

Been thinking why would a Welsh Regiment medla have the English flag on it, I know a vast amount of RWF men came from Birmingham, etc...has any got any ideas? A fake maybe?

Seems to be a common theme now to cash in on Nazi money. As previously discuss on the forum, these are clearly fake. In my humble opinion if you want to collect something with a Nazi coonection L1935B gold Swiss 20 Francs, if anything has a dubious origin its them!! I imagine that a large proportion of pre WW2 european gold coins, would have been in Nazi hands at one time or another during the war.
