    1. Smashing group Danny, thanks for sharing!!!!! In other news, am hearing rumours that the next generation of LSGC’s won’t appear for at least another 12 months!! Not sure of the source or how much credence, to draw from this rumour. But if I’m honest I wouldn’t be at all surprised!
    2. Interesting mock up doing the rounds, which I thought might be of interest? Have to say, I like the ribbon. Although what the green signifies, I’m not sure about..?
    3. Interesting, thanks Megan. Surely medals can’t be much longer now, can they??
    4. Looks like they served in the Middle East as well. So this medal could potentially be for either or both these campaigns, perhaps? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grenadiers
    5. Putting all historic delays in the issuing of LSGC’s aside for a moment. I thought forum members might be of interest to learn, that the Royal Mint are currently not excepting any orders for new LSGC’s. Just how long that has been in effect and how long it is expected to last, hasn’t been confirmed. But it doesn’t bold well, if historically there was a standard delay. Now coupled with this newest delay, which one would assume is due to the changing of effigy, and assumably delays due to Covid. Just how much of a backlog there was prior to this and just how big this backlog is increasing by, doesn’t bear thinking about……!
    6. The delays at the Royal Mint, compounded by bureaucracy like this aren’t helping the situation, in relation to the distribution of medals….. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/king-charles-honour-nuclear-test-29070465.amp
    7. Thought this might be of interest? https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/king-charles-honour-nuclear-test-29070465.amp
    8. Appears that the Nuclear Medal is not to be a medal in the true sense of the word…… https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/advisory-military-sub-committee/advisory-military-sub-committee-recommendations-november-2022
    9. West Midlands Police, had an award ceremony on Tuesday night (17th January), whereby 30 year bars were awarded. *LSGC’s were also presented. These medals bearing the E11R effigy, although when these officers physically qualified for their medals, I have not been able to confirm.
    10. Happened across this whilst surfing EBay. “A copy four medal group, full size, MC Military Cross, GSM with two clasps GULF, NORTHERN IRELAND, Falklands with Rosette and Army LSGC medal, all named except LSGC, MC named 24062272 WO2 D A STIMPSON RAOC, rank on GSM is CPL.” Someone has clearly, gone to some expense to create this group? Is it a copy group of a genuine group, or complete fantasy?
    11. Cracking write up thanks for sharing. He was lucky he wasn’t shot! I suspect had all those AWOL taken place in France, he would have been?

    15. I am aware from another platform, that a chap who qualified for his cadet forces LSGC on the 22nd of September 2022 has been informed that his medal is currently at his HQ. It has been confirmed as bearing the E11R effigy. Another chap qualified for his in December, but is still awaiting his. Will be interesting to see which effigy his bears?
    16. According to https://policememorial.org.uk/memories/john-smith-4/ Killed when run over by a train in a railway tunnel at Wood Green while on his beat at night.
    17. More and more rumbles appearing about this being a very limited issue affair…. I was reading on another forum, about the company that make them, expressing concerns that time was moving on if a mass production was to be requested, in order have them produced in time………. Having said that the Royal Mint are certainly in no hurry to release, any new medals either, so who knows?
    18. The Royal Mint certainly don’t appear to be in any hurry! The suspense is killing me 😱😂😂😂
    19. Very much looking forward to reading them 👍👍. Perhaps he deserves a thread of his very own?
    20. Does that mean do you think, that none change awards will be issued at an earlier date than those that require updating? I’m thinking of the King’s Police, Fire and Ambulance Medals, for example?
    21. I have learned from another platform, that West Midlands Police, are holding ceremony next week, during which 30 year bars will be awarded. Curious that these are available already despite the Royal Mint stating that there will be delays whilst they rectify the redesigning of effigy on a number of medals. Further to this, would be interested to learn when the New Years honours medals, will be formally presented. I would assume that these medals had been struck prior to there announcement?
    22. Always makes me think of Foyle’s War 😂 Interestingly, I have been made aware another group of medals, to a chap who also appears in the group photograph, of the 1937 CID course. Insp Leslie George Dolphin Kent Police. Served 31/07/1929 to 01/12/1957, initially with Dover Borough Police. Collar Numbet 643. He is shown on the 1939 Register as a Det Dover Borough Police. Police LSGC issued in 1953. Also served in Cyprus as an Inspector. Medal entitlement GSM Cyprus, WW2 Defence Medal and E11R (1st version) Police LSGC. Died January 1990. Sadly all these medals were sold on EBay, the vendor listing them all separately, for some reason known only to themselves, so the group has been split up 😡, the whereabouts of his LSGC unknown ☹️.
