    1. Useful link, to keep update with announcements… https://www.gov.uk/guidance/medals-campaigns-descriptions-and-eligibility#full-publication-update-history
    2. 😂😂 Dave, you’re such a sceptic😂😂 But now, you’ve come to mention it……..
    3. His Majesty The King has personally honoured the sailors and Royal Marines involved in the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. At Windsor Castle today, 142 men and women of all ranks and branches had the Royal Victorian Order or the Royal Victorian Medal (silver) presented to them by HM The King. It comes after their role drawing the State Gun Carriage which carried Her late Majesty’s coffin and for their services at the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II last September. 4. Thanks Dave, I had my doubts about it being the Met as well. Never seen one wearing a badge like that. Now you’ve pointed out the other bits, that I completely overlooked it’s obvious. Watched the film again and managed to get a slightly better shot of the helmet plate. Thanks for identifying the badge as well 👍
    5. A little foot note to this thread….. The officer who inadvertently created this situation had 12 years military service and 8 years police service. Creating the “20 years” for their LSGC. Some 5 years later (now with 13 years service), they got into a bit of bother, which resulted in them being dismissed from the force. No idea whether they wear their LSGC, or indeed whether they’d want to. But the fact remains that somewhere out there, there is an LSGC that was issued 7 years too early.
    6. Thought this might be of interest? All these recipients joined in 2002, but qualified for their LSGC’s pre 8th September 2022, so have been awarded a E11R version. Long Service & Good Conduct - Kathryn joined D&C in 2002 on response, moving to the Child Protection Team and then SODAIT dealing with serious assaults and domestic violence. She is a highly regarded investigator & skilled Detective. Long Service & Good Conduct - Steve joined in Aug 2002 on Response in Exeter. In 2006 he moved to the Dog Section & was allocated Police Dog Razor who was as sharp as his name suggests! Congratulations on 20yrs service. Long Service & Good Conduct - James joined D&C in March 2002 at Teignmouth as a response officer. He created the Torbay Police football charity team raising over £30,000 for local charities. Long Service & Good Conduct - Graham joined A&S in 2002, transferring to D&C in 2008 on Response at Plymouth. He is now the Sector Insp & is known for his energy, flexibility, resilience & sense of humour. All these medals were presented in Feb & March 2023. Of particular note, is the fact that “Steve” qualified for his LSGC in August 2022, so had his medal presented in a very short space of time. Which proves it can be done….
    7. Saw this on Twitter, thought it might be of interest, as this chap must, surely form part of the last E11R effigy recipients? Assuming there is a formal transition as of the 8th September 22, to a new King’s effigy?
    8. How common it is, I can’t say. But I can confirm it is possible to have the Burma Star and France & Germany Star. I had a relative (who was in the army) with just such a group. I found it fascinating that he had fought both the Japanese and the Germans, during the war.
    9. Saw this on social media, thought it might be of interest? Some bods from the RMP were presented with their LSGC’s the other day. Unfortunately not possible to ascertain from the photos whether there Charles or Elizabeth medals.
    10. Judging by posts/photographs on social media, West Midlands police are certainly blazing a trail, in ceremonies presenting LSGC bars to their officers. Not aware of any other forces who have presented anywhere near as many bars, if any at all!!! On a side note, I also see (again via social media posts) that the Fire service up and down the country have had a considerable amount of ceremonies in the last week or so, presenting their personal with LSGC’s. Interestingly all appear to bear the Queen’s effigy, Now whether this is just to clear all the personal who qualified under the late Queen or whether they are just pressing on with E11R medals, I have been unable to confirm.
    11. Gordon, I would hazard that this is an American cap badge? There is an Essex county in New Jersey and they do use the rank of Constable. Just a thought, I could be very wrong!
    12. Michael, you have to bear in mind that, these medals to Indian soldiers would have been engraved locally, so the quality will not be as good as those issued to European soldiers whose medals would have been engraved within the U.K.
    13. Thought this might be of interest? As of 15:46 hours Thursday 4th May 2023…. “Options for the effigy of the King which will be used on official medals are still under consideration. As such we are not striking any medals which carry the effigy of the King at this time.” Regards FOI Team
    14. Interesting concept! Look forward to seeing an example. But having said that, am I right in thinking that only the RAF have a crown on their bar anyway all the rest look the same, so you couldn’t tell the difference? Unless you mean would the recipient be issued with an entirely new medal, like in the case of the ACSM. Not sure whether the 1st version of the ACSM is still issued but if it is, would be cool to have an E11R first version and a C111R second version in a group.
    15. Thought this might be of interest? The new Border Force LSGC was supposed to be, being awarded in the spring of 2023. This has now been delayed until early 2024, as the medals themselves won’t be available until the autumn of 2023. Medal was initially conceived early last year I believe. So assume the current delay is due to the change in effigy? But whether there will in fact be both E11R and C111R versions of this medal remains to be seen.
    16. Whilst we await, a mounted Coronation medal medal group. We’ll have to make do with this impressive set of ribbons 👍.
    17. Interesting 👍. This chap needs to remember that he’s in a disciplined organisation, and he’ll do as he’s bl**dy well told!! 30 years wearing a Queen’s crown badge or not, when the time comes he WILL start wearing the new badge. Don’t know where he thinks he is. Will await physically evidence with regards to soldered cap badges as well… However I did groan, when I saw this photograph. Why she was allowed to be in the King’s presence, improperly dressed is beyond me.
    18. This could potentially be him, if that helps? As Dave says the City of London museum is worth contacting. I have always found them most helpful in the past. Point of note is that not all period officer papers exist. But you never know you might get lucky with them. Certainly worth a try!! Keep us posted 👍👍👍.
