Seeing the earlier reply about the police and the two photos reminded me of these images of the 105th anniversary of the creation of the Albanian police a few years ago.

Always wondered what the grey uniform was. Must be an officer with the black collar and red cuff  / collar piping ,which i assume must be the colour of the collar patches.

    2. Thanks for share ,  generally speaking i observe that the Albanian Army under President Zoghu then King Mbret Zoghu ,tended to be uniformed in Italian Style adapted first and later in openly Italian  pattern . once occupied and annexed to Italy the kingdom ,the Italians raised a Albanian Army again uniformed as Italian , the Skandenberg Helmet  reappeared as national Army emblem with Zoghu .

    3. Vladimir Laxa 1870 1945 ,was a Croatian officer of the Austro Hungarian Army ,he reached the rank of Colonel and received the Order of Maria Theresia for Bravery in the Italian Front . after WW1 he joined the Yugoslav Army and after the destruction of the Kingdom ,he joined the new Croatian Army. Chief of Staff he resigned in 1942 because the atrocities commited by the Utaschi . notwhitstanding he was executed in 1945 as war criminal ,.

    4. My pleasure !  Once I read who was the Spencer that gave his name to the tunic but i forgot it . probably some soldier of fortune serving in the Bavarian Army in the time  when Count Rumford reorganized it being War minister  of the Elector . regarding the officers wearing black trousers I think that they were allowed to use the peacetime trousers or breeches as economy measure

    5. Hello ,Frenchs never used british tanks in ww1, then hardly have a badge depicting one . The US Army weared a collar badge for officers with a british tank but with laurel wreaths on the base of the tank .

Over the last several years I’ve seen dozens of photos of officers and generals wearing black trousers with field gray tunics. Was this done as semi dress or was it just a preference?

The tall man with lancer uniform on the second pic is Lieutenant Max Mulzer ,a former officer in the 8th Bavarian Chevaulegers . he was awarded  with the Max Joseph Order and then became Ritter von Mulzer . he wears  the field grey model of the Bavarian lancer tunic called Spencer and not Ulanka ,with the white regimental piping on collar cuffs and lapels. curiously he wears the Parade trousers of the peacetime uniform ,stahlgrun with wide white Lampassen on the sides .
