      Hi Bayern

      First Thanks again....

I had googled fahnrich before and found out it was a rank not a name!

please could you tell me what the 'ensign' rank you mention is?  perhaps does it mean no longer a cadet but 'full' rank?

you,ve commented on pics of my grandfather before who seems to have followed a similar course through the ranks....

      tony

tony ,ensign is the english equivalent to fahnrich. and yes into theKuK Army the fahnrich was a rank .upper to NCOs and lower to the leutnant

    2. Dear Farkas , the date is relevant , November of 1918 ,a more relevant is the location . Mobil Epidemiespital . that is a hospital created to thecare of the thousands of victims of the  pandemia of Flu known as Spanish Flu .

The line at the back of the collar marks the unit of belonging . the old collar patches were replaced circa 1916 but not entirely with arm or branch of service stripes . that is what our man wears . of course he bears the rank of Feldwebel .

    3. Hello puma 77, The Police of the cities weared a dark blue uniform with dark red facings and at least for the Constables a british style helmet much alike that of the Bobbies. inclusive they were nicknamed Bobica . The larger Gendarmerie weared khaki grey uniforms like the Army with cherry red facings their collar patches were spearhead form . and with a badge on. the Gendarms also weared a braid on the cuffs with a curl

    4. Hello ixhs, Strange group. The man seated beside the nurse is probably a military doctor with long trousers and shoes. the man seated at the extreme right is a patient with pajama trousers and slippers . the man in the middle of the front line is a NCO probably a senior one . his uniform is of clean cut and the NCO braid is visible on his collar .not visibles are the button at the back of the collar and the officer swordknot of a Vizefeldwebel . the wounded badge was oval and the man carries a disc . the line of braid over the cuffs was part of the rank insignia for senior NCOs . Very curious is the man at the extreme right upper row, he wears a soldier cap with a civilian dress of open jacket and shirt and tie. one man wears a visor cap with nocockades , the dead heads were carried until 1918 by the Infantry Regiment 92 and the Hussars Regiment 17 ,both of Brunswick. and by the two Leibhusaren Regimente both of Prussia . to me are Freikorps

    5. Hello During the Kingdom of Yugoslavia , the police weared dark blue uniforms ,for the constables at least ,with a helmet very like the british bobbies helmet . the facing colour , dark red,  The other police Force was the Gendarmerie, this weared Army style uniforms ,in khaki grey colour, with cherry red facings . I believe that the Grey uniform and light blue facing colour for the Police appeared with the comunism.

      Hi Bayern, Christian

i know the dates - they’ve all got them on the reverse.

I wonder if you can work them out??

The first two are related and taken a few months apart

      the third is separate....

Christian , The hungarian knot over the trousers ,certainly was common to all Hungarian Infantry Regiments , but the Honved ones weared madder red braid and the Common Army ones ,yellow and black braid. The Common Army retained the yellow and black with the pike grey uniform. the Honved adopted slate grey braid.

Farkas , The men wearing tellermutzen, are Austrian Republican Gendarms , the men with the mortar ,Hungarian Honved soldiers of about 1930

    7. Hello Morar and Farkas , The sabre is a Austro Hungarian one It was carried mainly by Infantry Officers , senir NCOs ,and ensigns.whats strange is the white paint. the Helm is a good piece , apart from being without the lacquer coat ,is in well form . Its for officer , Cavalry , Dragoon , of the Wurttembergian Army ,WW1.

    8. Hello , Tony ,the Beamte is a  official , who served into the Armed Forces ,in some capacity ,and entitled to the use of Officer or senior NCO . the theme is complex , due the numerous classes of Beamten that existed into the German Armed forces .
