Hi Simon thanks for having a look its a sticker which is attached to the lining. It is U.V. negative..., the first part b coy Sco Rifles is in red ink then the rest in blue or black ink all is written in the same hand I'm sure. I've assumed a quartermaster might have first labelled a batch for b coy and then later added individuals details as they were issued. the makers label is a sticker also i'm away from home today but I'll post some clearer photos of the labels on here tomorrow. cheers tony

Hi Gents i got this as part of a job lot. For about a quid! the back looks different to more modern tally I have seen but I really know nothing about these. there are two sets of three little holes each just either side of the writing which line up if it were pinched together not tucked inside. I'm guessing an arm tally wouldn't have the 'tails' hanging but its only just over 2ft (66cm ish) so surely too short for a cap tally. I like it whatever..... tony

Hi Gents i've read these were painted green and the liner changed when brackets were added but this still has a 3 part liner. it came from the estate of a retired antique shop owner so I'm happy it is in its vintage condition but maybe it's not that straightforward a find. hope you like it, if you'd like more specific photos please ask. tony

Sadly... This has had a hard time. Moths have been well fed...and the front has been chopped open- to remove the plume holder I guess. but happily there is more to it. I was unaware when I got it that it was named: "b company. Sco Rifles. no.1246 Bugler C. A.Jacobs ". (G.A.?) And labelled: "Dobson and sons" Sadly Bugler Jacobs is apparently not on medal rolls and I know no more..... tony

Thanks Pete sadly losses would explain it and as you say the funnies had served their purpose by end of July/Aug. Seems a shame for those who might have served this brigade for years not to finish their fight under the same name... ive never researched my goodies in any depth but think I should take a closer look at this one thanks again tony

Hi Gents. these are mine. I'll photograph them as a group first. I do love 'em and I hope you do too. I will scan them singly if you are interested and let me know.... tony AH and German together above... Sadly nothing on the reverse of any of these. T

Thanks b just googled it as above but not much in English and sadly I can't read German. Do you know if the VBJ is a veteran organisation? Or is it a local hunters club? obviously I'm hoping the former! tony

Glad you like it Peter... ---- Does anyone know why they were disbanded at that time? The Brigade had existed for some years. It was not formed just for DDay so it seems odd timing to me. perhaps it was considered they had done their share of the fighting but I don't know if that's a realistic possibility? Tony

Great link. amazing people doing what their government should have done many years ago. staggered to hear of forests being planted on battlefields to hide history. tony
