I have been watching the history hannel series WW1 in color where they have colorized footage of the Great War. I was wondering what all my gurus thought of the accuracy of the uniforms and planes and tanks? Best, Sal

What I read about in horato hornblower was this and had no flags. http://www.napoleonguide.com/semaphore.htm But by WW1 they didn't use this? It was flags? I would have thought the Napoleonic one was the more advanced one. This is very interesting! Best, Sal

Thanks Chip, but the photo has found a more worthy home now! Why do you believe Semaphore? My only understanding of the Semaphore is from reading the Horatio Hornblower books and it was described as some giant thing with waving metalic arms. how do they work anyways??? Hi Bill, I learned the answer to that way back in an early thread at WAF which Prosper was involved in. I thought the same thing asked the same question an got no response. So I started emailing and calling S&L. I found out as many before me had that S&L won't tell you ANYTHING!

These sold on a Polish auction site and my little heart broke because I didn't get them. I assumed they were special made for an officer or group of officers but Jacques said they were souvanier type items for LC soldiers. He showed me others of the same general pattern that looked like cheaper versions of the same thing. I found them very interesting!
