    3. Do you happen to know when Walter was promoted to Oberstleutnant? Thanks! His promotion to Major was 3 November 1914.
    4. Thank you, Glenn! So the date 17 April 1917 for the six generals above him in the Rangliste of the same year does not apply to him at all? Looking at the Rangliste 1918, this must be the case, now other generals with Patent dates 29 August 1917 and 14 December 1917 are in front of him. The Prussian Ranglisten seem to be clearer, even if an officer is ernannt and therefore without Patent, at least they give an exact date.
    5. Gentlemen, I am following and making notes. Let me see, if I get it right: Oberst on 30 November 1914 Generalmajor (ernannt) without Patent on 17 April 1917 (where does the date 12 April 1916 come from? Maybe rank seniority?) Patent as Generalmajor received on 16 June 1920 Generalleutnant on 1 July 1921 Does anyone have a complete list of WWI decorations? Thanks!
    6. He received the China Commemorative Medal (China-Denkmünze) in Steel for non-combatants in 1901. But don't forget, he was in China from 1933 to 1935, so it seems possible he received something from Chiang Kai-shek.
    7. Gentlemen, Klaus-Henning von Schmeling-Diringshofen seems to be wearing 2 (?) ribbons. He served in China from 1934 to 1938. They are surely not from the Reichswehr, and he was KIA in September 1939. So what could the ribbons be? Flower Medals, or, what I am hoping for, something Chinese from Chiang Kai-shek. Any help would be great. Thanks!
    8. I would also love to know, if GO Hans von Seeckt received any Chinese decorations. Please let me know, if you find out anything.

    10. I was trained at the Luftlande- und Lufttransportschule (LL/LTS) in Altenstadt/Oberbayern (Automatik 1989, Freifall 1990), and yes, one had to have some cojones, although our equipment was modern and well-tested, BUT Dr. Koschel, with that primitive material? What a hero!
    11. Thank you! This is also very informative: Die Luftfahrtmedizin im Ersten Weltkrieg, in: „Wehrmedizinische Monatsschrift“, Nr. 10, 2019
    12. Areim, one question to your great-grandfather, please. Do you happen to know, although he retired 1944, if he endured any time as POW. Was he ever again Berufstätig after the war? Thank you!
    13. Generalfeldmarschall Hermann Göring presented Colonel Lindbergh with the Order of the German Eagle and a magnificent sword (surely a special edition) for Luftwaffe officers (Luftwaffenschwert) on 18 October 1938. Or maybe Göring is just showing him ones of his swords? Somehow looks like a Pour le Mérite handle. In order to extend his American and English pilot's license, Colonel Lindbergh visited the Fliegeruntersuchungsstelle of the Luftwaffe at the request of the American Embassy in Berlin and was examined by Oberstarzt Dr. Ernst Koschel. That would have been a sensational picture, but probably none were taken (trustworthy Arzt-Patienten-Verhältnis).
    14. You write "Charles E. Lindbergh", do you mean Charles A. Lindbergh? Thanks! What a great picture, but the Unteroffizier is not Lindbergh. He never had a hair cut like that, not even in 1938, when Göring presented him the the Order of the German Eagle with Star in October 1938.
    15. Gentlemen, the famous wildlife painter Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Kuhnert (1865–1926) received: Medal of Honor (Ehrenmedaille) of the Berlin Art Exhibition in 1883 Gold Medal of the The Saint Louis World's Fair, 1904 Mecklenburg Merit Cross in Gold of the House Order of the Wendish Crown Baden Order of the Zähringer Lion (Orden vom Zähringer Löwen), Knight's Cross II. Class (BZL3b/BZ3b/BdZL3b) Red Eagle Order, 4th Class with Swords (took part in the Battle at Mahenge) Colonial Medal (Kolonial-Denkmünze Deutsch-Ostafrika 1905/07) I am sure, he received more. In 1911, e.g., he led the King of Saxony on a hunting excursion to Egypt and Sudan. I would think, he was decorated for that. Can anyone add some awards? Thanks!
    16. I hope, I have got them all: Order of the Crown of Italy, Knight's Cross (JK5) Karl Ritter-Medaille in Silver of the Society for Geography in Berlin (Gesellschaft für Erdkunde zu Berlin) on 2 February 1895 Red Eagle Order (Roter Adlerorden), 4th Class with the Crown Friedrich Order, Knight's Cross First Class (WF3a) Belgian Royal Order of the Lion, Knight's Cross (BLöw4) Prussian Centenary Medal 1897 (Zentenarmedaille) Red Eagle Order (Roter Adlerorden), 4th Class with the Crown and Swords (for his service during the Spanish-American War) Prussian Order of the Crown (Kronenorden), 3rd Class Knight of Honour (Ehrenritter) of the Johanniter-Orden on 28 July 1902 Mecklenburg Order of the Griffon (Großherzoglich Mecklenburgischer Greifenorden), Commander's Cross (MG2b) Lippe House Order (Lippischer Hausorden), Cross of Honor 1st Class (LDH1) Prussian Long Service Cross for 25 years (Königlich Preußisches Dienstauszeichnungskreuz) Prussian Order of the Crown, 2nd Class with Swords Swedish Royal Order of the North Star, Commander's Cross 1st Class (SN2a)
    17. Can anyone fill in the blanks? Thanks! ??? Fahnenjunker/Fähnrich (if even?) ??? Sekondeleutnant ??? Premierleutnant (c. 1898 with the 3. Garde-Ulanen-Regiment in Potsdam, kommandiert zum Generalstab der Armee) ??.??.1900 Hauptmann (Captain) 12 March 1901 Charakter als Major (honorary Major) 10 April 1906 Major
    18. Gentlemen, I have read a lot about Gustav Adolf Graf von Götzen (1866-1910), especially about his time as Governor of German East Africa. But what about his military career (2. Garde-Ulanen-Regiment). When exactly did he enter, when did he officially retire. Promotion dates, all decorations (maybe even the Orden des Strahlenden Sterns von Sansibar [El kaukeb ed dorri]?). All help is very much appreciated.
    19. Absolutely, and his son-in-law was Colonel Albrecht Erich Eberhard Friedrich von Warburg (1903–1945), married to his daughter Elisabeth Charlotte "Liselotte" Adolphine Friederike Lindeiner genannt von Wildau (1911–1980).
    20. Gentlemen, this is what I have for Friedrich Wilhelm Franz Max Erdmann Gustav von Lindeiner genannt von Wildau (1880–1963), I hope, someone can help complete the decorations and maybe have a date for his promotion to Oberstleutnant. Thanks! 15 March 1898 Sekondeleutnant (2nd Lieutenant) 1 August 1908 Oberleutnant (1st Lieutenant) with Patent from 19 May 1907 20 July 1912 Hauptmann (Captain) 15 July 1918 Major c. 1940 Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel) 1 April 1942 Oberst (Colonel) Prussian Order of the Crown (Preußischer Kronenorden), 4th Class with Swords Colonial Medal (Kolonial-Denkmünze Deutsch-Ostafrika 1905/07) Iron Cross (1914), 2nd and 1st Class Princely House Order of Hohenzollern (Fürstlich Hohenzollern'sches Ehrenzeichen), Cross of Honour III. Class (HEK3) Saxe-Ernestine House Order (Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden), Knights Cross 1st Class with Swords (HSEH3a⚔/HSH3a⚔/EH3a⚔) on 1 May 1918 as Captain in the 1. Oktober 1938) Repetition Clasp 1939 to the Iron Cross 1914, 2nd Class War Merit Cross (1939), 2nd and 1st Class with Swords
    21. Generalleutnant Hans Albert Ferdinand Harry von Kirchbach went, like so many (e. g. Oberst Albrecht von Warburg), missing in January 1945 and was declared dead on 19 June 1957 (Amtsgericht Hannover, Abt. 88) with effect from 18 January 1945.
    22. Sitting here is also an "Exzellenz Sachs" ... could that be Generalleutnant Wilhelm von Sachs (1859–1936). If yes, can anyone supply some information on his career? Thanks!
