Hi All, Some photos of the Point Cook Air Force museum's P-51D which was rolled out for a flying display at Point Cook last weekend, this aircraft was restored over a 10 year period, and is painted to represent a RAAF 77 Sqn aircraft based at Iwakuni, Japan as part of the Commonwealth Forces Of Occupation. (AM-G, A68-750). It is really A68-170. Bob

Hi Mark, I fell in love with this when you first posted it on the other forum, and it sure does things for me here too, what a rare treat !! I too love your display cases ! Bob -
Thanks guys, I have 2 with flight piping already, so this makes number three, and I almost didn't go for it, but once I saw the condition I couldn't pass it up. Scott, there is no markings at all that I could find inside the sweatband, which is made of a sort of 'oilcloth' type material. It came from a friend in Brisbane who bought it from Mike Heuer in the US. Bob

Hi Alex, Good timing, I was just about to turn the computer off for the night ! Thanks for the nice words, yes I remember your earlier comments, same hats, I was just having a play with the camera this afternoon ! The RK is a S & L type 'A', a nice early one without the flaw in the beading, and was awarded to Fighter pilot FW Otto Wuerfel of JG 53, sadly he was awarded this after going into Russian captivity and he never survived to see it, he died of Typhus in December of 1944. I have a few other photos of it posted in the Iron Cross (pinned) section of the forum. I think I can hear a cold beer calling me, Best wishes Bob
