EK 1914 1914 EK1 screwback heavy vaulted
Motorhead posted a topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
This one is a new one-I've seen it at a german forum and had my doubts.....never seen this variation before-a few weeks ago I found it at a small german military fair(Flohnheim). And in hand everything looked OK for me so I bought it! Gentlemen-here it is! Micha -
EK 1914 1914 EK1 "Square" double screw......
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
It looks like we still don't know who was the manufacturer of these EKs-We know now that the "CD800" EKs has been made by "Carl Dillenius/Pforzheim". If we suggest that the "CD800" where the awarded ones (all the same, just one core,no screwbacks and always flat)...we have the "squares" and the same crosses like them, just marked with a"800".Does it make sense for a manufacturer to sign the EKs for the private sales marked with two different kinds of maker marks? We could believe that all 3 different kinds of markings belonging to "Carl Dillenius"...or just the "CD800" and......"Square" or "800"! But that would mean "Carl Dillenius" has sold EKs to a third company, either the "square" or the "800" marked ones. So back to your question the answer is simple....no,we don't know. Micha -

I meant a "cutout" like the Albert knight with swords from the original scan-My question is just because I can' see the details on the EK,and if it's not the awarded piece it's a "Spangenst?ck"....and you know the discussions around them(mostly from the dealers..).I don't have any doubts about the medal bar here so if it's a Spangenst?ck it would be the perfect reference to identify one of the variations! Well,I agree....I remember a time here when we had the "Deutschmark" and no one was really interested in Cases, cardboxes and paperbags! And that was not so long ago...... OK,it looks like we are just a few years too late with our questions-so even if Claudios set has been putted together, the cross and the box are excellent pieces! Micha

EK 1870 1870 EK2 for the Battle of Mars-La-Tour
Motorhead replied to Christian J's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Well,I was also watching the auctions......and I'm sure nearly everybody who's collecting imperial medals! The group was really nice-did you win the most of the auctions? The price was far away from being realistic! The EK2,document and the two pieces of paper/cardboard for more than 18oo??? That are a thousand bucks for the cardbox and the letter? The seller did everything right to push the price-the heart of the grouping at last.......If it's yours now you've got something very special in your collection-just the amount of money was a bit much! I know you all would prefer to see some new medals and medalbars, but at the moment it's really a pain in the butt with these frauds at Ebay! All pictures have been stolen from J?rg Kalies online shop! he confirmed this at the SDA forum! So keep your money!! Micha http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/lelt1990_W0QQ...ipgZ50QQ_sopZ12

Remember the "frankenstein" thread? All the "mutant" EKs with the strangest attachment systems? Well, here is one of the creators....have a look at his offers-the Eks are looking ok(but I don't trust the S-W case),but what about the other auctions? http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/e-gliderider Micha PS: when I've posted the link not all iron crosses have been listed.....now it looks like a bit different
