EK 1914 Another screwback EK
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I wouldn't say organisation-not long time ago I've seen some scans from an old catalog somewhere...The "Deutscher Offiziersverein" sold nearly everything....but it's true-these EKs are really hard to find.(Usually I don't buy rusty EKs,but........).I know there's another variation out-the one with two little screws-so easy to find like the KMST EKs......... Another"not so easy to get "iron cross-this is a really nice example of the "Deutscher Offiziersverein".In hand it looks like 2+,but the scan ruins the pics-they are always to bright.....anyway-I bought this one as an upgrade for my unmarked one from the same maker-here are the pics,I hope you like it! EK 1914 "800" Iron Cross, 1st Class, 1914
Motorhead replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
That's hard to tell(it wasn't awarded to me),but it looks like a professional work.I'm not shure, but the reverse of one of these is shown in a book(I think in the Previtera).A collector friend of mine has got the same type of cross with this hooks-so I think they are original to this ek and not later added! I'm not at home at the moment, but if you want I can take some shots from an angle next weekend. I don't want to mess with the hooks......you know what I mean. Micha -

Hi Bill, I must be blind.......I've got the brother of your beauty, but with a little extra.Look at the obverse-same core, just a little more used. And a s a bonus, the reverse with a little extra @Chris-very impressive stuff! the pic of the EK is a little small, but I think it's from the same type. -

EK 1914 Screwback variation
Motorhead replied to Chris Boonzaier's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
No doubt,a Meybauer! And a very special one-first I've seen......We know that Meybauer used the '14 parts also in the third Reich. In my collection is a '39 Schinkel with the early '39 pin and a 1914 frame.I can tell this because one of my '14 Meybauer pinbacks (it has left my collection..)has had the same frame. And this one here is very, very special because they used the new type of frame together with the old screwback system! I'm not collecting the 1914 LDO EKs,but this one..........well,another one at my endless wanted list! Micha -
EK 1914 "800" Iron Cross, 1st Class, 1914
Motorhead replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
@Bill.....welcome at the dark side That's a really nice one-I love this detailed cores! There are some sililarities between yours and the "square",but I'm shure they where made by different makers.I think "square" and "CD 800" are from the same tools, but compare the core(especially the numbers)-different.But anyway-to get that EK was very well done(because of my job I can't hunt at Ebay at the moment........)but the next one that's coming across my way it's mine! A long search has found an end....today this little beauty dropped in-a really nice Godet Berlin with the two hooks! The cross is in really good condition(the scans don't show the beauty of this EK),both hooks are complete and undamaged, just the stamping is a little unclear.Hope you like it..... Micha

I agree with Joe-that's a wonderful Meybauer!I have to think about your Meybauer idea......I'm not at home at the moment and it's hard to judge this two EKs just with a few pics at the pc.At saturday I will compare them......and to shorten the time-here's another Meybauer. Micha

EK 1914 A new 1914 EK2 arrived
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Doug, any chance to see some pics? I would like to compare your EK with my FR/Fr.....It seems to be the maker FR used just one core, but all my Fr pieces are a little different-and when you have a look at the 2nd class Fr...a few different stamp variations, same with the core. There's a lot of work in it for the serious EK collector! Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Hi Joe, I would suggest it's a W-have a look at the little dot next to the W! A friend of mine owns a 1st. class FrW,I would like to find out if it's stamped the same way. Micha
