Tom, Correct! The smaller size was for civilian wear , while the larger for military personel. Apparently , the owner of my pair never wore his large badge. Best Kurt
Hello, I've paired these two up , so the badge was not originally issued with this case , but they make a good match. I'm looking for any opinions , good or bad , on the badge. It is so obviously well-made in hand , but I understand this eagle might be somewhat controversial. I already know what John thinks , but encourage him to weigh in , all the same. Thanks! Best Kurt
Yes , F. X. Schwarz handsigned them all. I believe these were first handed out in 1933. Perhaps, Riedel received his later because of his higher number. As for the descepency in dates. Perhaps , people would get their badges out of order? It was not like today , where one could just pop in quickly. If Riedel had to travel to pick up his badges , perhaps that is why the date is later? A delay? I am only guessing. I am sure there are others who know way more than I. Best Kurt
