    1. They've got their own medals, but I don't know much about them. stefko1963 on eBay has got a few examples.
    2. Because Republika Srpska is not a nation, but an "entity" of Bosnia and Herzegovina. You can find many informations here. Of course, reasons are always much deeper and far more difficult to understand than what they look like, and this is a very complex issue, but this is not the right place to discuss it. Filip
    3. In Republika Srpska most of the things are based on a "whatever/however/whenever you like" theory... This would be the less important one. Regards, Filip
    4. Hi Filip, it looks to me like a Soviet production, maybe ZOMZ (Zagorsky Optiko-Mekhanichesky Zavod)? But I could be wrong...
    5. I received a very polite answer from the museum. They would be glad to help us, but in order to give us better details and informations they would need to know exactly your requests. Please, if you have particular requests, write them down, and I'll let them know what you're looking for. To be precise, this is what they say: [...]You talk about researches concearning the Yugoslav Army. You mean the Kingdom one, the Yugoslav People's Army up to the civil war, or both of them? What kind of informations are you looking for? Are you interested in weapons, uniforms, organisation, formations, and in general, what segments of the army are you interested in? Thanks, Filip
    6. He's buried in the "Kuca cveca" (Flowers' House), with a big park very well preserved. There's also a museum inside the park, where all the presents that Tito received during his career by other countries are displayed. Many of them are real treasures... The Marshall liked to treat himself very well.
    7. Well, a museum should never show political tendencies, either communist or nationalist. At least a serious and respectable one... The "Yu-civil-war" section is still there, completely visitable. Weapons from the 92-95 war, from Kosovo, and the original uniform of the American pilot captured during the bombings in 1999.
    8. Last time I've been to the military museum (August 2006), the IIWW was still close. The IWW one was already re-opened, and there are some lovely Serbian Adrians from IWW and from the 20s on display. I remember the last time I saw the IIWW section was in 2004, and I must say it was time to reorganize things there inside... The M42 shells were left without any control or protection (no glass, no cameras, rare museum keepers walking down the corridors) on a few shelves, and you could touch them and take them in your hands... The only security system was a metal detector at the exit (like the airport ones), nut I'm 99% sure it wasn't active (if it was, it would have been a miracle of the technology of the '60s... ). At that time I was too young to have any impure thoughts, but after than I spent many nights dreaming of a new visit to the museum, with a bigger bag and a faster step... In 2005 half museum was already closed, last year some sections reopened, but still work in progress... The Yugoslavian section (1945-1990) was closed too, but it's quite understandable: it had more a propagandistic aim than historical, Tito everywhere, in good, old communist style.
    9. Abou the Kalemegdan fortress: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalemegdan Outside the Museum, there is a permanent exposition of several tanks from the IIWW: Filip
    10. True, I'm sure that Christian's badge is IKOM production too.
    11. You may find this interesting: cufflinks and tiepin of the JRM (Jugoslovenska Ratna Mornarica), the Yugoslavian Military Navy. In original case. Producer (marked on the cufflinks): IKOM - ZAGREB. Filip
    12. If anybody is interested in doing any research, or at least trying to, let me know. I could translate for you your requests. I accept paypal. (I'm joking!)
    13. Dear Christian, the DVD version of the Neretva is rare, but not impossible to find. On eBay there are mostly two versions of the DVD circulating, the American and the Spanish one. I remember a few months ago there were several copies on ebay.com, at the moment, the only one I could find was this: Item number: 280098851387 It's the Spanish one, but it's in English too. Hope this helps.
    14. Or you could contact directly the Military Museum of Belgrade, even if I never tried, so I can't garantuee that they can help you, or even answer you (knowing how things often work in Serbia, out of communism, but not of communist mentality): vojnimuzej@mod.gov.yu
    15. Hmm, nice one Christian, but... I think I saw you somewhere! Oh, yes! It was in the "Battle of Neretva", when you're shooting at the germans near the river!
    16. Titovka (side cap) with red star, marked "IKOM" ZAGREB. It should be a dated model. Filip
    17. Cap badge of the VJ (Vojska Jugoslavije, Yugoslav Army). This means it was adopted after the collapse of the old Yugoslavia, by the new one (Serbia and Montengro), after war broke out. It's been in use for 6 months, than changed again. Filip
    18. Yes, he does. He sells over e-Bay! I wasn't sure if I could post the direct link to his shop because of the rules of the forum, but since it's an infrequent, ad hoc base, here you are: http://stores.ebay.com/stefko1963-NIKOLA-TESLA His name is Goran, and if you are Yugoslavian collectors (which is the case I suppose, since we're posting in the "Republic of Yugoslavia" section ), you should add him to your favourite sellers. I know him in person, and can assure you he's a very honest person, with great stuff. At the moment there are no auctions running, but he usually updates his shop every 10 days or so, with very interesting material. Hope this helps. Cheers, Filip
    19. I don't know any good Serbian site on the internet that deals/sells medals&co. The best way to find Yugoslavian awards in Serbia is (unbelievably) to know the right guys in Serbia! If anybody is interested, I HAVE THAT GUY! (Both medals from kingdom and communist era). Let me know...
