    1. Hi all, Just a quick question - I came across in Dublin with the QSA with the "Transvaal" clasp that is named to "712 TRP. A.J.WHITNEY SAC". Ancestry showed that he served in the A Division South Africa Constabulary. I just would like to check are these medals researchable any future then only medal roll? How rare or common unit SAC is? Thanking you in advance, Noor

No info on that but they came from same source and Dahomey/Colonial medal has exact same style stitching on the back with same colour threat.

      3 France medals

Hi guys, Thank you very much for your comments. Now, I will try to make a photo of Madagascar medal stamp when I get home from college. Colonial medal clasps looks like are well made and surely silver. Ribbon is stiched so I was able to do just a little beak - there are some "dot" each of them that can be hallmark - will look again. Dahomey medal I can't see any maker marks (or where to look?). Only name under bareljef. Regards, Timo
    5. Hi all, I have here three France medals that I would like to let go. Can you guys please help me with the fair price that I should ask? Also if it is possible to determinate a period, etc that would affect the value. Like I understand this is the case especially regards the clasps on the Colonial medal? 1. Madagascar Expedition medal 1895 (missing clasp) "ARGENT" and Paris mint on the rim. 2. Dahomey Expedition Commemoration medal 1892.Daniel Dupuis (I saw Liverpool medals sold his stock for £145 and medal-medaille offers one for £235!!!) 3. Colonial medal. Like I understand it is earlier type but I don't know much about the clasps - how rare they are and from what period. I can't find any maker marks. Does this indicates private maker? Any advice would be great guys! Thanking you in advance, Timo
    6. Hi all, I picked up these two badges among with some British stuff and I am struggling to ID them. Can someone please advise from which country these are from. I am pretty sure these must be from Belgium or Netherlands. Also what branch they are representing and aprox timeframe when they were (are) in use. Also, they are not my interest so if someone can advise me as well regards fair value for fellow forum members then that would be great! Thanking you in advance, Timo
    7. Its for mini medal bar (I have seen these with the medals before). I didn't make out anchor, (kings) head instead but I am not sure at all. I will try to do better scan tonight. Pretty sure that the date letter is "D". Thanks for your assistance Mervyn, Timo
    8. Hi all, I picked up this three place buckle but struggling with the maker marks. First at all these are so small that I can't figure out exact details. It is more like a golden colour so any ideas of the materials? Gold plated bronze, etc? Perhaps someone can help me with the maker marks?
    9. Hi all, Yesterday I picked up haul of ribbon bar plates, lose ribbons, etc including this nice and old plate! I can't believe it that someone had been ripped off the medals from an amazing medal bar! I don't see any logic behind there - why??? Now there can be three lose medals floating around, instead keep them like they were. Probably even value side all three together would be more expensive group then lose medals (from dealer's prospective). Just sad to see something like that! Timo
    10. Hi all, Picked up this little bugger here in Dublin and just wondering is it collar or cap badge. Looks like it is designed as a collar but meantime it is still pretty large. Also I presume there was a maker plate inside that is now wear off? Last, from what period it can be and where it sits on the common/rare scale? Thanking you in advance, Timo
    11. Hi all South Africa experts, I checked the link above and I can't find there Burger H.L.C.Ahrens. Does some of you have any information about that man? Thanking you in advance, Timo
    12. Thank you very much for your help! That's totally splendid information that you have there! Thank you, Timo
    13. Hi all, Today I picked up among of my haul some UK police medals. There is: Mounted trio: 1897 - PC. F.Harding G.Divn 1902 - PC. F.Harding L. Div 1911 - PS F.Harding Also single 1911 Coronation medal to "PS. W.Alcock" Are these researchable, is there any information available or even some advise where to look? Thanking you in advance, Timo
    14. ahaaa, I am still broke like a hell (and must every now and then ask money for a beer from my wife:)).This little gem was a bargain and just have to jump on it! Less then 30 awarded to the Dubs ever, so I am not sure can I see them even again on the market (around 1,400 awarded in total shows rarity!!!)
    15. Hi boys and girls, Just showing off my today's pick up to Royal Dublin Fus.... isn't she nice?
    16. Hi all, I am lazy lump! Of course there is a number! Just I took a word of the chap who sold it to me and even didn't bother to check it! Anyway, interesting part is that his rest of the medals (or some) were worn by the South Africa Air Force Colonel Stephanus F. Dutoit's medal bar as a replacements. I just spotted that auction here (lot nr. 97): http://www.citycoins.com/wp-content/uploads/auctions/auction_no_64.pdf Full naming on the medal "C166071 C. CALVERT". Thank you guys, Timo
    17. Hi all, Just a quick question - I thought that the South African WW2 medals were issued with the service number and the soldier's name. But I just spotted here one that has only a name "C.Calvert". Does that indicates as well some type of Mercantile Marine issue, etc? Thanking you in advance, Timo
    18. Hi there, I don't know from where is possible to get an original ribbon but I can ask from few collector friends of mine. Sometimes weird things can come out, as an example, set without the award showed up few years ago ... Kind Regards, Timo
    19. Thank you very much for your help! Is there any way to determine a period when that piece is from? Regards, Timo
    20. Hi all, Here is one Natal Field Artillery cap badge with the lugs on the back (one is missing). Especially back shows nice age, front is more polished. The wheel is separate piece and attached with the two wires. Is this mean as well that it is an officer's badge or it should rotate as well? Also does someone knows the period when it is from and aprox. value (I presume it is rarer then normal RA badges anyway). Thanking you in advance, Timo
    21. No worries - both famous Irish units indeed. Leuchttrum, check out The Great War site. There is plenty of information and also unit movements listed. Really handy tool for general info, acronyms, etc.
