Hi Glenn, I think the Spiegel is not confusing the two, because they wrote "dem fr?heren preu?ischen Garde-K?rassier-Leutnant Kurt Graf von Haugwitz-Hardenberg-Reventlow". Generally the Gardes du Corps is a prussian K?rassier-Regiment, so a Leutnant in this regiment could be called "Garde-K?rassier-Leutnant" as the Spiegel did. Best regards, Komtur. Here the Haugwitz family with the two Curts in the "Gr?flicher Gotha 1917":

From right to left (because the bar is sewed as a Frackspange): Saxony cross for 1866 Saxony long service award for 9 years ("F?r lange u. treue Dienste) 1874-1913 Prussia medal for 1870/71 Saxony medical aid cross for 1870/71 Saxony for civil long service ("F?r Treue in der Arbeit") 1905-1918) Regards, Komtur.

The bridegroom is a K?rassier officer decorated with a EK1, the Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross 1st class and the wound badge in black. On his orderbar I see the EK2, the Baden order of the Z?hringer Lion 2nd class with swords, the Oldenburg Friedrich cross 2nd class and the Schaumburg-Lippe cross 2nd class.

Papa seems to be a high ranking Beamter, as far as I can recognize his shoulder boards. He is a knight of the Johanniter. Besides his huge ribbon bar with a Iron Cross 2nd class on the white ribbon we see the 1st class stars of the Prussian Red Eagle Order, the Baden Order of Berthold I and the Saxon Albrechts Order (please notice: no swords ). The small badge between the last star and the Johanniter cross I can?t recognize.

I believe the suggestion of Daniel and Uwe, he indeed was a General der but we did not know, because of a lack of publication, is the best explanation. After looking at this portrait lots of time I now recognized, Onkel Feldmann was going to the fotographer with a kaputt Crownorder As we know from orders with swords on the orderbar, they often loose parts of the swords. That seems to happend to his neck cross too. Best regards, Komtur.

In that case you are wrong. The star of all the second classes (or Komtur classes) of German orders where a class of its own, given after the neck cross was awarded as the next higher decoration. Only sometimes they where awarded both together. There was also never a Grand Cross of the Prussian Crown Order. Hans von Feldmann got only the neck cross of the 2nd class with swords on 28th Oct. 1916. Best regards, Komtur.
