I am searching for informations and portraits of Colin Freiherr von Halkett (22.11.1867 - 30.8.1924) In 1914 he was as Major and Bataillonskommandeur in the Saxon IR 134 (Plauen). Before the war he got the Albrechts-Order knight 1st class and the officers service cross. On 26.12.1914 he got the St. Henry knight. He retired as Oberst a. D. Thanks in advance, Komtur.

An odd kind of decoration for black officers in German colonial service. Produced were 33 in the Berliner Münze (1895 - 3; 1898 - 5; 1917 - 25). Only 3 awards are documented. Regards, Komtur.

No, never for the 4th class, wich was always in silver. The higher classes (3rd, 2nd, 1st, grandcross), normally made of gold, were from 1916 to 1918 officially in silver gilded. There are also other materials of these higher classes like bronce gilded or also silver gilded before 1916, but only as private purchased pieces ("Spangenstücke") Regards, Komtur.

I never said, it is RIGHT to split up a medal bar, because it isn´t from MY POINT OF VIEW. But it is not wrong or moral dubious for about 99 % of humans on earth and it is NOWHERE an criminal act. We know, what a medalbar can tell about history or a person and we should give this knowledge to others. May be some more people then care about these things. But in MHO we can not assume, that all the others around have our knowledge or our point of view to compare a medalbar with a shrine or Egyptian antiquities. Kind regards, Komtur.

That exactly I wrote her. Therfore it makes nowadays no sense to sell the single decorations. To split such a group is very very very sad for us collectors, especially if we are interested in bars, but it is NOT a criminal behavior in human society Regards, Komtur.

As far as I know the "S.F.S." of Samuel Friedeberg & Söhne should be engraved, but may be I missunderstand the meaning of "stamped" Regards, Komtur.
