    3. I agree typical Souval, these can sometimes be a problem with the purists, Souval made them during the war, but continued to make them immediately post war, with original components so it is not always possible to differentiate pre 45 or post 45 made pieces made for the collector market, a piece made pre may 45 has a value to the purists, those made after may 45 are worthless junk, but as they are identical, how can you differentiate? his later pieces did differ and can be identified

    22. Hallo Eric, you are of course quite right, I got it in the wrong order, I remember reading a book many years ago of the same title (Maybe by Clark as you mention), about the Lions being led to slaughter by the Donkeys who ordered them to go. Here it doesn't matter if they were Brits, "Huns", French, Russian Americans etc, they were ordered to do so, Then, any "Lack of moral fibre or cowardice in the face of the enemy" was rewarded by a firing squad, at least nowadays it is acknowledged as post traumatic stress disorder, maybe in some ways the world has moved on slightly, maybe not. Here I am reminded of that quite remarkable day, Christmas day 1914 when opposing "Lions" stopped and thought and came together in "No-mans land", exchanged gifts and banter (played football) and maybe realised that the other guys weren't actually as bad as they'd been told they were. This immediately raised alarm bells with the Donkeys, who were vehement in destroying any fraternisation with the "Enemy", but in the end who's enemy Regards Alex K
    23. to get back to the original video posted, I found it quite moving and a nice piece of music, it moved me greatly. The fact that many others sitting around the field obviously thought so also. We can all quote and point fingers at who started it all and who is therefore at fault, but in the end it was about commemorating the countless lives needlessly destroyed in the end, politicians and Kings start wars, but It's the people that have to fight them. It is somehow comforting to think that 100 years after the event there are people who take the time to remember the donkeys led by Lions
    24. King Boris III Bulgaria, the decoration he is wearing on his dark blue uniform lower left breast is a special and unique award to him to celebrate his 20 years as head of the armed forces, and is quite unique, there are a few known examples (Including one with brilliants) but images of the actual award are extremely difficult to find, (And I've tried hard) fortunately information supplied by another GMIC member and apologies for not remembering them to thank them, supplied me with the above information, I have therefore attempted to "Reconstruct" the award based on available information, result attached. To be fair, in this instance the colourisation actually shows him wearing the decoration based on my reconstruction, but hopefully reasonably accurate. It is based on the standard Bulgarian officers 20 year Long service cross
