    1. thankx guys - here is the man we are talking about..... by the way - what is medal N°4 on his bar????
    2. I think it could be the one who is Oberst and Kommandeur of 1.Garde Kavallerie Brigade in 1905 I don`t have time right now to check other lists but what I see so far could match... the RAO crown and bow, the HOHX, the Hessen Phillipsorden.... and he was Flügeladjudant seiner Majestät des Kaisers und Königs!
    3. Some kind of patriotic medal - but a really nice one , made of good material and a very nice style.... Iver is right with the translation , geg. means gegen (against) and usw is und so weiter (etc... and so on) Sometimes you see these patriotic medals on medal bars , as well as the regimental medals or some jubilee rememberence medals , but not very often - don`t forget : this is not a official medal ! I think we will never know if this is the right ribbon for this medal or not....
    4. Hello all, has anybody informations about Hauptmann von der Groeben of Jäger Bataillon 7 in Bückeburg after 1914 ? war service , war orders , war suvived? Any help is welcome!!! Thank you Heiko
    5. Hi Rudi........................... I love it Great Hessen collection you have there , but that`s not a start - that`s a finish !!! Great pieces !!!
    6. I am no expert for the device itself - this must answer others.... but the story of the bar would fit... I know of some old navy engeneer guys that had this really typical combination of china and / or DSWA , a crown order / crown order medal or red eagle / red eagle medal or both , in service before 1897 and still in the job to get the 40 years... The bar is possible but if the device is good or not - I don`t know...
    7. I think he is a Oberleutnant too.... 1 star on the board , if he stayed "at home" to make the photo the chance is good that he is from Garde-Ulanenregiment N°2 because that is the only one from Berlin directly - N°1 and N°3 were in Potsdam... the combination of medals and rank could probably solve the riddle and give him his name back - BUT - we need a date for that... a year on the reverse or anything like that... Just checked 1887 rank list (earliest I have) and that tells me that it may be possible with a exact year of the photo...without - not :(
    8. Ah intersting......... I was too slow on that one too........ need to raise my speed N°2 is of course the 1870 medal , N°1 is a iron cross 2.class 1870.... from the type of paper I would say about 1875 - 1885 , Garde-Ulan (?) from Berlin..... I don`t have that early ranklists.... sorry
    9. Hi Ken - yes it should be him... Hi Christophe - I thought he was a saxon officer because in my ranklists he has a "KS" in front of his rank and name.... thought this means Königlich Sächsischer , I could not find him in many lists so I thought these were the only years he was in prussian service and the missing years he was in saxon service and must be found in their rank lists...
    10. This should be................ Königlich Sächsischer Major Schwertfeger , dem großen Generalstab zugeteilt , Lehrer an der Kriegsakademie cheers Heiko
    11. Just found , the Schaumburg-Lippe firebrigade merit medal had the same ribbon .....
    12. From the construction I still think that it is not a bar of someone who had a silver and gold merit medal..... did you see the two pairs of holes in the centre of ech ribbon... one more thing why I think this is something private , remember all this little things pinned on ribbons in these crazy german shooting societies... BUT of course Timo , if it really should be a Schaumburg pair - great great find
    13. Timo......why Schaumburg-Lippe ??? There are some more german awards , official and inofficial , with these coloures....and from the construction I would guess this are more likely some kind of shooting awards , price medals or some other "private awarded" medals.... or do you have something more to point on Lippe?
