OK..........what do we have on it....... - 1870 in service during the franco-prussian war - 1901 service IN china (with battle clasps) - 1904-06 service IN africa (with battle clasps) - 1914-18 service during ww1 - 1937/38 still alive to recieve the bulgarian war rememberance medal....and still no frontfighters cross of ww1 If this bar is genuine it must have been worn by a 90 years old man at the end of the 30s that got in ww1 NO award from any other german state BUT has 6 awards from foreign states..... not to talk about the different sizes of the battle clasps or the wrong order line up with the austrian in third position...... OF COURSE - everything is possible.... and we have seen a lot..... but this one is a bit too weird for me - nothing less and nothing more.

Gentlemen, here is a 4 place medal bar that I have for a long time now..... maybe someone can help me because I think an ID is possible...... there are only 4 ribbons on the bar BUT some points of help.... 1. I think it has to be a Navy bar, the combination is typical navy in combination with the..... 2. ..... dark blue reverse!!! It is a high quality needle system, the ones I like most from 1890-1910, the great heavy needles and needlehook - looks very nice, I think it is an officers bar....and the combination of..... 3. ..... red eagle order, 25y service cross, China 1901 and 1897 Centenar medal.......... can make an ID possible. No ww1 awards, maybe a crown order for the neck BUT China service and 25 years of service..........some kind of Kapit?n zur See or something like that would be possible in my eyes.... Now I am very interested in the old wise mens comments..... Heiko

.................... ........................... .................... ok Rick....................thank you so much, I have forgotten to check all of the hooks...............and yes.............. the griffiin order hook is much more to the top than all the others wich are in the middle of the bar!!!!!!! So this should now really be the ribbon for a griffin with crown and so it should be unlucky H?rnis!!!!!!!!

Hi Dave, very interesting indeed...................... I don`t think that a pinback award would appear as ribbon on a ribbon bar.............................. especially because this big ribbon bar has hooks in the middle of each ribbon on the front side under the ribbons for putting the awards in there - so, should be a ribbon award from Mecklenburg and not a pinback!!!!! Then it is really possible that it is Major Heinrich H?rnis........... can anyone confirm all this, Rick or Rick or Wildcard or anyone else???? I don`t want to write a THIRD name table for this one...... thank you so much!!! Heiko

Ahhhhhhhhh.......you got that bar In china the russian and the german forces were allies - russian doctors got german red cross medals, german soldiers got russian medals or orders, russian officers got german orders, german officers got russian orders - just the way of a political and military alliance there are a lot of medal groups ot there of german soldiers/officers with russian medals/orders on them..... your bar should have belonged to a navy soldier with the prussian crown order medal - unfortunately no battle clasp on the china medal, not easy to research....... greetings Heiko
