    1. Haynau, there were several auctions on ebay some time ago with Von Keyserlingks things - did you get it there??? I ask because these auctions were NOT from Kapit?n von Keyserlingk only but from I think 3 members of the family!!!! Maybe another officer of the navy from his family sailed in turkish waters.....
    2. very cool what a simple bar can cause a discussion like this... OK, Stogie - your words may make sense in general but my feeling on this special bar is not good... maybe someone can get it and check it
    3. Rick.... do you really think this one is possible???? With a bavarian Landwehr DA and no more bavarian MVK`s or anything like that AND no other DA`s - and then a Saxe-Meiningen officer award??? I don`t think so....
    4. and to complete my thoughts... then it would be a Hannover long service award for officers from the time period 1837-1866. for the german collectors and of course the friends worldwide with german literature... these would be the OEK numbers 750 - 759 (Orden und Ehrenzeichen catalogue) and then it would match to be a early Hannover bar - great!!! Heiko
    5. maybe my eyes are not the best today.... but aren`t there blue stripes on both sides of the purple ribbon second from last????
    6. This bar is completely "bull....." The Saxe-Meiningen is an officers award, then a bavarian long service.... , Hamburg on Hesse or halfmoon ribbon, Kyffh?user in front of Hamburg, completely strange mounting style.... for me nearly everything is wrong!!!
    7. Ah you specialists.... this is a typical Weimar madness medal bar... the last two ribbons are the same!!! One with the colonial lion on the ribbon and one for the colonial lion on the breast (1. and 2.class, combattant and non-combattant - however you want...) . You can see the very top of the breast lion down in the picture.
    8. ?hem, maybe too simple but.... is there a possibility to ask the grand-grand-son you have got it from....??? Maybe he has any informations on the orders, any uniform photo with medal bar or knows if he was in Hessen or somewhere else...? And again and forever... this is not a hanseatic cross!!!
    9. OK, guessing is allowed, please kill me if I am total wrong... here are just some thoughts what it could be from the colours.... and as it is the second position directly after the IC why not a livesaving medal... Hessen wedding medal 1894 Volksstaat Hessen Livesaving medal 1927-34 L?beck livesaving medal 1909-18
    10. I would say that it is definately NOT the Hamburg hanseatic cross - completely different wide of the stripes. Can you post a very very closeup of the ribbon and maybe of the small ribbon from the lapel bow too...
    11. Christian, I think I know which medal bar you are talking about... It was my thought too when I saw this bar... but I simply know nothing about british medals to german soldiers, maybe you should post this in the british forum too....!?
    12. Great work Claudio, in my collection it is nearly the same. All big bars or groups with history and names will be held together with all the information I have - thats a very important part of collecting in my eyes!!!
    13. the clasps on your medal are some kind of "all vets organizations clasps" - they were used for many different mostly inofficial awards of the veterans organizations but not for the Kyffh?user medal. Next point to know is that a soldier could only get 5 different clasps for the Kyffh?user medal, not more. If you want to know more about the different clasps please feel free to ask questions...here are some more Kyffh?user clasps for your pleasure. greetings Heiko
    14. Here I am... First of all I must say that these are not the official clasps for the Kyffh?user medal, they look like this:
    15. Oh Claudio..... we should intensivate our communication... that could save a lot of money in the future.... great bar!!!
    16. WWWWOOOOOUUUUUUWWWWW never seen a quality work like this before!!!! And Rick, it is not from the 20s it it from mid 30s... there is a widows cross on the right side!!! Great piece - thanks Andreas!!!
    17. I would say they are fakes too.... And I want you to remember the latest full size medal bar fakes from austria.... maybe there is a new Ohio born...
    18. Ok, together with the mini chain it is still unbelievable but it is a bit more real now... great pieces!!!
    19. ok, that`s regular... two different docs for the same award. But these are two different types of KDM - one for non-combattant and one for non-combattant on combattant ribbon. In my eyes this is not possible because it is not a bravery award - it is a rememberance medal for the 70/71 war and the type of medal and the type of ribbon shows the status of the soldier in this war.... combattant medals for fighting soldiers, non-combattant medals for the nurse in the home hospital and a non-combattant medal on a combattant ribbon for the doctor in the frontline - all examples of course... it makes no sense to give one man two medals even if he sould have served in a hospital in germany and in a lazaret at the front later - or am I completely wrong?
    20. this has really happened???? Are there any docs out there, has anyone else seen something like this before??? Two different KDM`s for the same war???
    21. Ey Stogie.... get some more coffee today!!!! We are talking about an Elephant here, not a Lion....
    22. yes it is the uniform of the "Reichskolonialbund"..... a mix of the old Schutztruppen-Uniform and the new insignias of the 3.Reich.....
