Now.... that`s why I have said that he should be happy with a written name on it..... I have seen two without name and unit a long time ago and I thought that was normal....and the typed name is something special... My two order packages had just the printed order description on the top but no name or unit - both came together with other stuff in groups , one was a private purchase and one appeared at a dealer , both I think ca. 1995 - 1997 , but I don`t remember exactly - both were completely original and authentic groups in my eyes.... unfortunately I have no pictures or something else from that long time ago....maybe other members have similar stuff to show or remember packages with or without names...?

Ok...I am far away of being an expert for MVOs or KOs , replaced or not - I don`t know....... I tell you what I think when I look at the bar , three points jump into my eyes.... 1. You can see from the bar that this was an officer with long service etc... 25 years cross is on the bar , in service 1897 .... ok .... but when he was in DSWA and took active part in the war allowing him to wear a battle clasp - but he got no officers combattant award for this... only peacetime orders on the bar before ww1 2. In the war he got a prussian combattant EK2 (or maybe homefront....who knows) and a bavarian order on the ribbon for officials in war service / homefront - the so called "Beamtenband" - is it possible for a pure prussian career to be a bavarian official in ww1 ? 3. have a look at the threads the orders and awards are fixed with.... they had some different colours... why not use the best colour for each order - a yellow thread on a white crown order ? Why not use the white thread from the read eagle.... Just my thoughts , maybe I am completely on the wrong way... The group looks cool , no question , but I am a bit ..... hmmmm .... nervous

Sorry Brian, we were talking in "german".... MVK = Militär-Verdienst-Kreuz = Military merit cross The one on your bar is the lowest class of this cross for regular soldiers or lower class NCO`s : MVK 3.class with swords , the typical bavarian standart award during ww1 for soldiers. For upper class NCO`s the cross had a additional crown over the swords and then came the two higher classes with enameled centre - very nice award. The officer version is the blue enameled MVO = Militär-Verdienst-Orden = military merit order , that came in several classes too... You will find nearly all classes of the cross and the order when you search the forum for older threads... cheers Heiko

Gentlemen.... just want to share a small thing , a simple postcard from soldiers of Feld-Artillerie-Regiment 55 . Made during the war , obviously 1917 or 18 , many of them has EK2 ribbons and you can see a EK1 too.... some nice things can be seen in the picture , the rank insignia on the arm , different hats and uniform parts and so on......

Hi Pierce, ...no not really , the cross we are talking about is N°2 on the shown bar , it has only one class and some "upper-class" additions like the clasp "1914" or a crown. The other cross on the bar is another award from the bavarian red cross organisation and has a different name...but from what I have seen over the years it should be the cross on position N°2 that belongs on your bar as said before.

.... they confuse further!!! So from what we can see it must be the things from 2 or 3 or 4 persons... I can`t read the documents on your pictures and I can`t see the medal bar on the photo... BUT person 1 : the bar , the ribbon bar and the lapel bow person 2 : the documents (Otto Braun?) person 3 : Baden Kriegshilfskreuz person 4 : the photo (or is it the medal bar from person 1 , but I don`t think so...?)
