    1. While looking through papers in the War archive in Stockholm Sweden , I found an interesting letter about this Danish officer who was seeking service in Finnsih Airforce April 4th 1918 during the Liberty War . He had been taking into hospital after attacking a servent and was considered to have weak nerves , but he was an excellent pilot and the Finnish Air Force , returned the letter and said he was welcome ! He had his flying License in Germany 1914 if I am right ? As a student I wonder what happened to him ? If I find anything I post here
    2. Thanks ! Nice to close the question about this one I thought he should have a flying badge , and not anyone close to be named Wieshofer in JG 1 He must have been some sort of staff Off during WW II , I suppose . Christer
    3. Maybe a little off topic but I thought I must show you this pic of one of the " soldiers " who fought and died in the war in Finland 1918 The Swedish boy Styrbjorn von Stedingk was just 16 years and 10 months when he was killed during the assault on Tammerfors in April 1918, a sad reminder of the price we pay for freedom. Here he is in his scout uniform. 340 Swedish soldiers joined the the attack on Tammerfors and 37 of them stayed on the battlefield.
    4. Thats a fantastic piece Mikko ! One of the nicest I´ve seen Even if reserach going on I give a couple of more names just to check if I´m right Liberty Cross 1st Class without Swords with Breast Star 1918 2 awarded Lauri J Ingman Pehr E Svinhufvud Both Finnish Politicians. One thing I learned the last days is that my numbers for awarded Liberty Crosses is far to low I thought there where only 509 3rd class 1918 awarded but the real numbers must be more than 1000 ! Also 2nd Class 1918 I thought 152 awarded but the real numbers is closer to 300 , they are not so rare as I thought. The same goes probably for 4th class , I already seen that I have more names for 4th classes wo X and with Red Cross then I thought was awarded in total. It will be interesting to see the final numbers someday. Christer
    5. Hopefully the research about Finnish awards will be published in some way, otherwise it will be lost with the researcher.

Great a new name for a 1st Class 1918 Libert Cross , thats not often and I never heard of Louis Leisler Kiep before An great ribbon bars there Christophe , it looks like the swords are gold on the last one probably meaning a third class 1918. 13. Fantastic Bar ! I dont have any German Officer with BMVO and only a Medal 1st class , could it be Navy ? Christer
    14. Mikko your ribbonbar is almost certain a 2nd Class and a 3rd Class , the ribbon för the 2nd Class is different and The devices are in silver för 4th Class and Gold för 3rd Class. Tanks Dave ! Now I have a couple of more names. Christer
    15. Fantastic Pierce !! I got some new names there , I will make a list of all Germans with Finnish Awards I have in Excel format and post on the forum so can we see if we can update it. Christer
    16. If anyone have names, documents or similar on Germans who got Finnish awards from 1918 I would be most grateful to see them. I´m trying to do a list over as many as possible awardees with liberty Crosses and medals from 1918. I still miss a lot so all help is appreciated Christer
    17. Ohhps , just realized that I don´t have any known German with the combo 1918 3rd and 1941 2nd What was the name of that Saxon Officer Dave ? I love to get one more name to my never ending research Christer
    18. It could be two 1941 Crosses like : Franz Augsberger , he got 3rd class 1941 and 2nd class 1941 Hans Collani also 3rd / 2nd + Eastern Front Medal I think I have all German who got 1941 Crosses , and these was the only I found with both 2nd and 3rd class. I have only 20 names for 1918 3rd class Cross to germans so there is a " black hole" there, probably a 3rd class 1918 then. Christer
    19. Ha I found the old thread were this was discussed 2008 ! , (House Order of Hohenzollern thread) and one of the conclusions was that the blue ribbon was a Crown Order and not a Long Service award. Christer
    20. The man is back Alpenkorps ? Or am I on the wrong track ... And that pic of Smeagol sure looks a bit like my neighbor ...... Christer
    21. Thanks TacHel and Chrisophe , I don¨t think there where any official cases for these crosses , the only one I´ve seen has been German ones probably bought private. It is strange since the Order of White Rose have original cases and also Order of the LIon but not this one ? Christer
    22. Thanks Jani , interesting to know that Steinhauer & Luck have started to make 2nd class Liberty crosses ! When taking in consideration the quite few 2nd class crosses awarded 1918 and 1941-1944 to germans and thinking of the extreme few that are alive today and in need of a replacement cross you wonder .... And since they are somewhat better " Göde" copies in my eyes , the price is Here is my 4th class by S & L. side by side with a genuine 1941 Cross I will keep an eye open for more S&L Liberty crosses , waiting for a 1st class ..... Christer
    23. Wow , Thanks Jani , first one I have ever seen Now on my wanted list ..... together with a MB E-63 AMG , and Yacht and some other small things Christer
    24. New arrival to my collection After a long long time I finally found a Order of The Liberty Cross 2nd Class ! This is a 1918 version awarded with swords , maybe to a German soldier... Only 115 was awarded of 2nd class in 1918 so its quite a challenge to find one these days . From left to right - top row 2nd class 1918 , 3rd class 1939 Civil Merits , 3rd class 1941 , " Widow" Cross 1941, " Widow" Cross 1941 4th Class with Oak Leaves 1941 , 4th class 1941 , 4th class 1918 , 4th class 1939 Next one I´m looking for is the Red Cross versions ..... Rare Christer
