    1. Hi , Yes this is a copy the quality really is not there compared to the real thing. The enamels are wrong within the crown segments and construction methods are off. The style of badge is legit, and was made by the Rothe company i believe. I do have an original of this badge i believe its listed in my showcase. all the best steve
    2. If genuine ,this should have spokes in both wheels, and typically this appears to only have spokes in one wheel, there seems to be a lot of these around these days ..as such personally i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole !! regards steve
    3. Looked at this when on Ebay, noted central plaque is being similiar in finish to 1930s Observer badge examples, obviously colour combination is wrong !! may be an over sight or an indication of possibly reproduction status .It size and with the lack of overall quality,i would hazard a guess it was part of a commerative display piece circa 1930s.(only my humble opinion ) or as previously stated a fake !! Either way it was worth a gamble !! steve
    4. Anglo Boer War Medal (BURG. D.A. SWART) with Boer War Veterans Association gilt & enamel lapel badge on ribbon, Wound ribbon*(most probably relates to the incident which caused his capture by the British) with Boer Republic gilt & enamel badge attached, 1914 - 15 Star (SJT. D.A. SWART. POTCH. KDO.), British War & Bilingual South African Victory Medals (SJT. D.A. SWART, POTCHEFSTROOM CDO) with Paul Kruger 100th anniversary 1925 medal on VM ribbon, 1939 - 1945 South African War Services Medal. A.B.O. verified to roll: Private Daniel Andries Swart, Potchefstroom Commando. Award of the Wound ribbon is not listed in the Forsyth roll, however, given the fact that this has been mounted as worn, and worn with pride by this veteran, it is most likely an ommission from the roll rather than a self award especially having served in the same unit for the Boer War and WW1. Burger Daniel Andries Swart,of Rietvlei,PO Reismierrbult Dist Potchefstroom ,served with distinction with the ranks of the Potchefstroom Commando. This unit was commanded by A C BOTHMA. He enlisted on 11/10/1899 and served at Magerfontein,Tweerivier,Mafeking, and Paardeberg where he was captured and taken PRISONER OF WAR being interned at St Helena until July 1902. Was serving with the 2nd Military Constabulary Potchefstroom Commando from 27th October 1914 until 20th December 1915(taken on strength)Service number 102 . served as a Private 27.10.14 TO 28.11.14 when he was promoted to Sgt serving in this capacity from 5th January 1915 to 11th June 1915.. Discharged 12th April 1917 due to being medically unfit for further duty. WW2 service confirmed on roll ,but no further details survive. cheers steve
    5. Copy The Commanding General of Air Combat Forces (file numbers) GHQ on the 28th November 1917 I award to Unteroffizier G?dde (Wilhelm) of Kampfstaffel 19, the Pilot's Badge. for the absent Commanding General of Air Combat Forces the Chief of the General Staff sig. Thomsen Oberstleutnant for the accuracy of the copy (name illegible to me-- looks like "H?ne") Oberleutnant & Staffelf?hrer ................................................................................ ................................................................................. ................. "KGL. PR. BOMBENGESCHWADER 4 O.H.L.". This of course stands for "Royal Prussian Bombengeschwader der Obersten Heeresleitung Nr. 4" or "Bogohl 4" for short. So this fellow was possibly a fighter pilot who flew escort missions for bombers at the Western Front. ................................................................................ ................................................................................. .................... This is a photo of Wilhelm Godde during retirement. PS Rick very kindly translated his award document for me.
